Looking to possibly unload 3 revolvers to fund a other project. But would like an idea as to how much to ask. So here goes.

49 no dash. It's got a spotty finish on the sides. S&w installed a new pawl, extractor, and reset the b/c gap. Have receipt although of course I don't expect to recoup that $$. It's more for proof that s&w went through the gun. This is a "floating j" gun. Stocks numbered to it. No box/papers. I'm guessing $300-350?

Next up is a 10-5. Another one with some finish wear. There is a small pit? in the barrel. Not sure what it is and very hard to get a picture of it. Anyway, this has a sweet trigger and is my most accurate gun I have. Some marks on the barrel and a few rust spots under the grips. I asked on here and got a 66-67 for the year. A seriously great shooter! Stocks number to gun. No box/papers. I'm guessing $300ish?

Lastly I have a 64-5 NY-1. This was said to be an 88 so it's an earlier one. This does not have the vapor hone finish. Not sure if its early enough for the standard finish or if the finish was removed. No idea when that changeover occurred. However I would guess that this was not an original vapor hone gun since its earlier. I have the original DAO hammer and the pachmayr (sp?) grips also. Could ship the gun with either configuration. Excellent shooter. No box/papers. Decided not to move this one!

Get on Gun Broker, and look at what these guns ACTUALLY SOLD FOR! Forget what they are asking. I use this as a TOOL when buying and selling. Compare condition at the same time, as it makes a difference also. Good luck! Bob

I tried hopping on there and saw a couple 10-5's in similar condition with bids around the $300 mark. But the 49's had some CRAZY pricing on some, with no bids of course.

I always wondered how everyone on here looked at completed auctions. Maybe it's only available on a regular computer but I've never seen the tab while using my phone. I'll have to look again. It'll be a lot easier than "watching" similar guns until the end and seeing what they go for. Thanks or the help.

And yes, I only look at ones with bids because there are some crazy prices on there that, of course, don't get any bids.

On a side note I remember when I bought my 49 there was another with actual rust all over the top strap and other places that sold for $350!

To find "Completed Auctions, you must be signed in as a member, then in the upper right hand corner you will see the ADVANCED in black, click on this and it takes you to the next screen where you can select regular or Completed auctions. Click on the Completed auctions and enter your search criteria. Only pay attention to the auctions actually completed, not stopped and relisted.

Thank you!

I would raise your prices 2 1/2 times and then refuse to budge on any of them. And display them in such a way that when removed they get banged against each other diminishing the condition over time.

Seems to be the operating procedure at most of the gun shows I've attended recently.

I think your estimates are excellent.

I agree with Beagleye - with a caveat. I think your price estimates are very reasonable, and they should move (sell) quickly at those prices. However, I rarely if ever see anyone getting exactly what they ask for. The potential buyer always wants to pay lower than you are asking even if they agree to your asking price on the phone, or on line (email, text message, etc.). Therefore, if it were me, I'd add anywhere from $25.00 - $40.00 to the asking price of each piece and advertise them as "Price Firm!" If the buyer is willing to pay your asking price with the "adder", then good for you. If the buyer wants to haggle, then shave the price by $10.00 - $20.00 and both of you walk away happy. If you advertise the guns at the "enhanced" price and there are no takers after a week or so, then you can adjust the price downward by $10.00 - $20.00 and note in your advertisement that there is a new lower price.

Best of luck,

Dave

Boog, after you have determined the prices that you desire, you can post them here for sale. Another option, would be Armslist, which I use often to buy & sell. FREE! Of course as with G.B. there are NUTTY RETAILS also. Bob

Thanks for the tips and ideas everyone. I'm not 100% on selling them yet but neither of them are irreplaceable. I gotta sleep on it and see if this is what I really want to do. I just hardly ever shoot these 2, for no real reason at all. So I figure sell them and let someone else have at them!

I think you are low on both guns. Minor finish flaws and nothing major. As you said the 49 has recently been gone over at the Factory. Both are solid guns and worth a minimum of $400 each FTF. I think you'd be giving them away any cheaper. Factor in shipping and FFL and I'd go $450 on each.

Remember these guys giving you prices won't pay that when you list them for sale. Seems when you ask for prices there worth more than when you actually list them for sale on here.
