production year for Model 60?

Hello,
I'm a new member looking for some info on a Model 60, it's a 3 screw with a pinned barrel and ser #R232XXX. Can anyone tell me the approximate year it was made or originally shipped?

Catalog references that number to 1979-1980. Sorry it's not more specific about the date. You can call S&W customer service. They may be able to pinpoint the date for you.
