PROUD on where your from! Ever notice?

This is surprising !! You mean that there is something outside the borders of TEXAS??

See.... This is what Iam talking about.

I was just pulling your leg--hence the "smilie" at the end.

I do understand where you're coming from. I'm proud to be a Kentuckian, but it's not a religious thing with me. I've lived in 20 or so places all over the world, and while each of those places has something to offer (I'll always miss Louisiana's food, for example), I came to realize that there's no place like home.

State pride seems to be stronger in the southern states(except for maybe here;)). On our first liberty from boot camp I went to the base club. When they played "Freebird" the place went nuts! I had so many southern boys in my company that I spoke with a drawl after a while.:) I was raised a Navy brat so I guess I'm a man with no state.

Proud to be an Appalachian American from Pennsylvania!

Thoughly embarrassed by Philthadelphia though! I say let New Jersey have it!

I was born in Kansas, lived in Texas,Missouri,Utah,Colorado,S.and N.Cal.,Arizona,and retired in S.Oregon,61 miles from N.Ca.[the State of Jefferson is S.Oregon and N.Ca].I love the west-very little humidity, lots of good scenery, good gun laws[except for parts of Ca.]and great food.Did i mention the Pacific Ocean? :)

Im from, and in, California and don't feel proud or ashamed. It's easy to feel indifferent about it when you feel like your house is sitting in the middle of Red Square.

I'm from NJ but I live in PA........I don't like to admit to being from NJ, but sometimes I get caught using words like "wooder" instead of "waater" and I blow my cover.....:)

I'm from Virginia. I am proud of that heritage. Three of my Great-Great Grandfathers wore the uniform of the CSA, the third one was a POW up in Pennsylvania for the last two or three years of the War of Northern Aggression. I never ask anyone where they are from. If they are from Virginia then they will voluntarily tell you within the first 30 to 45 seconds of conversation and if they are not from Virginia, then I do not want to embarrass them.

I think it's fine people are proud of their native state. But when they move somewhere else I wish they'd quit telling us how much 'better' everything was 'back home.'

If it was so bloody wonderful back there, why are you here?

Actually, to be correct, it's West "By God" Virginia ;)

Something funny about certian people being extremely proud on where there from. If you have been in the service you know what Iam saying. I find it funny.. Example... people from Texas and another... people from West Virginia.. Sorry that's " West Virginia by God".. I 've found that people from Texas will fight if you make too much fun of there state. Iam from Indiana...see it dont bother me at all.

M2A2;

Years ago, I had a friend who never used any form of profanity. Kind of unusual for a single guy in his 20's, but respectable.

However, if he REALLY wanted to refer to you with a derogatory term, he would call you a "HOOSIER" ! ! ! ~GRIN~

ElKabong,

In Beckley, WV and as an outsider, I was taught that one first had to buy the bar a round and then offer the following:

"West 'By God', Stand Up And Shout It When You Say It, Virginia"

We did and were allowed to remain in the bar unscathed! ~Grin~

I live in NJ. Nothing to be proud of except the world best Pizza!

Nothing to be PROUD of?? The Mafia, Route 22, The Shore, Gambling at AC, Jersey Italians, , NJ Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, corrupt Jersy Politicians...to name a few.
