Purchased a New M&P .40 - Questions

I purchased the Carry and Range kit M&P 40
took it to the range today.

Before I go in to it further, I also have a 1943 Colt 1911A1 and a Ruger SR9.
The Ruger I have had for 4 years and put 2000 rounds through it, I can shoot the hair of a flies *** with it.
the 1911A1 is also very accurate and although have had it only for 5 months I shot very well with it right away.

Now on to the M&P 40, I put about 100 round through it today and this thing is all over the place, shoots very low, at 20 ft I have to place the front sight well above the "bullseye" The sights have no elevation adjustment only windage.

so should I get in more range time to get used to the gun or purchase different sights?
Trijicon HD Night sights or something that is adjustable?

There is a post on here about the sight picture for the M&Ps. My 40 with the front blade level with the top of the rear sight hits where the dot on the front sight is. i think that is the proper Sight picture.

Installing the following Apex Competition parts will lower the trigger pull to less than 3 pounds and give you a very 1911ish crisp and clean trigger...your current woes should dissipate immediately after.

Put some more rounds through it, 100 is just getting warmed up. Every manufacturers pistol has a different feel.

What you are experiencing is not uncommon, regardless how many other guns you shoot well. Both of the other guns you listed have (usually) a better trigger out of the box than the M&P. It will take a little time and practice (both dry fire & live fire) to get used to the pistol/platform. Remember, this is a SERVICE GRADE PISTOL-NOT A TARGET/COMPETITION PISTOL.
If you expect it to shoot like a finely tuned 1911; you're gonna be disappointed!

Being a Service Grade/Self Defense type weapon doesn't mean it can't be accurate out to 25 yards. But this accuracy will be different than, again, a Target Grade weapon. My personal experience (with my aging eyes) is 3" @ 15 yards; 2"-2 1/2" @ 5, 7, 10 yards. I have the M&P 9, 40 & 45 and all shoot this well at those ranges-although I only have 375 rounds to date with the 40, since I got it a few weeks ago and still working on loads for it.

All my guns are bone stock, no mods, no after market parts-just the way they shipped from S&W when new. I don't have any complaints about the trigger; except for the M&P 40, which does have a little grittiness to it, but with use, proper cleaning and lubrication; I expect it to get better. The 40 also came with night sights (police trade-in) which are harder for me to pick up compared to the factory OEM 3 white dot sights. But as far as POA/POI, I have no issues there.

100 rounds isn't enough through this gun, IMO, to think you need a new sear, spring kits or new sights. Go back to basics, as this is a new gun/platform for you. Get some factory ammo, use a good stable rest and have some fun!

No disagreement with MyDads38...the M&P's are indeed Service Grade Pistols.
However, even after shooting lots of rounds and cleaning and polishing the trigger bar, sear and USB...you still have a Service Grade Pistol.
My point was to give you the known direction of travel needed if you desire to make your M&P shoot like a 1911.
Whichever route you pursue is up to you.

thanks for all the advice, I am going to take a little of all the advice.

I will first pit more rounds through it, get a feel for the trigger,
second look into some trigger work if I feel it could be a bit lighter.
