I was cleaning My sw40ve earlier today and like a idiot I slide my slide back on without putting the barrel or the operating rod back in. I was planning on going to the range tomorrow so any help to get the slide off would be appreciated

I did this too when I first got the gun don't feel bad. I don't remember how I got it off tho but I did so it can be done. I think it just took some force

You have to pretend you are the spring and go through the same process of pulling the trigger and holding down the tabs. it is almost a 3-hand job.

Remove the end cap and then the striker. The slide is being held in place by the protrusion on the striker (the part that engages the sear).

You can pull the slide to the rear far enough to get to the striker, insert a small screwdriver to push forward on the strike sleeve, which reduces the pressure on the end cap and lets it slide out. Then the striker slides out. Then the slide glides off.

I think this will work.
