Question if i may ? Do you know what you have and where you have them stashed.

Wow...I have an approx count on the firearms within 15 or 20...but some are transitory. About 140 or so. When I moved to Wyoming 20 yrs ago I had 127 22 rifles. Sold a lot. a few months ago I was looking for an old Colt SAA...looked all over for it. Finally told my wife I was going to report it solen thinking I may have left it on the porch one day when I shot a really stupid coyote. Later that afternoon went into the bedroom reached into the back of the sock drawer and there it was. Ammo? 9mm I can be real close cause I don't load it. Everything else...nah. I found some .318 bore 8mm bullets couple months ago and figured I would make up 20 or so rounds for the 8mm short I have in a Pre War Oberndorf Sporter I like to shoot occasionally. Went looking for some cases to load and found 50 loads ready to go. I was just down in the vault looking for some 22 Hornet ammo. Warming up this week so the PDs will probably be out. Found the ammo and my collection of the first 50 years of duck stamps. They're going to ebay

As a card carrying Luddite I don't know a spread sheet from a bed spread. So for me records have to be on paper and simple. Every gun is identified on the outside of an envelope or folder that contains any bill of sale, government form, test target and/or historical information. Handgun boxes are stacked on top of the safe that the gun is kept in.

A spreadsheet is so named because it is sheets of paper with data spread out from one to the other.

Most youngsters do not, and only a true Luddite would, know this.

"Since at least 1906 the term "spread sheet" has been used in accounting to mean a grid of columns and rows in a ledger. The word "spreadsheet" came from "spread" in its sense of a newspaper or magazine item (text or graphics) that covers two facing pages, extending across the centerfold and treating the two pages as one large page."

Until yesterday evening my answer would have been "no". The missing items were the plastic cases for two unusual semi-auto pistols, each containing the spare magazines for those guns. Late yesterday I found them hiding in a closet under an empty soft rifle case. PHEW!!! Replacing those mags would have been a bit expensive, although not up to Steyr GB levels of pain. My Steyr mags live in the safe.:)

I have several weapons and ammo stashed around the homestead. My youngest brother (RIP) had many issues in his short life. I once asked him if he had any regrets. He replied, "Never hide your stash when you're toasted!"
Agree, and again.

I should say.. I don't know about spread sheets. I do take pictures of the gun serial numbers print a b/W photo and write pertinent info on the page. I keep 'em in a folder in the safe. I can usually find the guns...wallet keys glasses cell phone and credit cards...huh??

I did, but as I age I am frequently forgetting. I need to get organized before it is too late.
