No idea on mfg date since I’m just making inquiries. Asking price is $750 but I don’t know values.

S&W Model 15–2 in 38. Advertised as “Great condition”. Pictures not the best but all I have. I did ask for better ones plus any known history and if the grips match SN.

You thoughts on price after seeing pictures? Thanks in advance!

John

If I read the SN correctly then you are looking at 1965. The stocks are very nice but definitely not correct for that revolver.

I agree that the pictures aren’t very good. Condition seems decent considering how old the revolver is but it’s also miles from mint.

Doesn’t sound like a terrible deal, but this is a model they made a LOT of, so I don’t imagine a lifetime of regret if you don’t jump on it.

Thanks for the feedback Sevens. Appreciate the “lifetime of regret” turn of phrase. Gives it perspective. And blowing the pictures up now I see plenty of holster wear on the bluing at the front of the cylinder I didn’t see before. If he offers to drop the price I may still consider. Supposed to talk with him tomorrow after I shoot with a friend. That friend happens to have a M15 I can look at too.

I’m also looking at a M60 3” on the same local forum. Waiting on a PM answer. That one is not a pinned barrel. Price is $550 and looks fair. Even worse pictures though.

Pretty sure I'm seeing some wear on the finish, so I'd say condition is "good", not "great". The stocks are definitely replacements. The majority of Model 15's came with Magna stocks and the target stocks with speed loader cut did not come into existence until 1978, the Model 15-2 was made from 1961-1967. Unless you live in an area where revolvers are very hard to obtain, I think $750 is way too much. I'm thinking something more along the lines of $500-$550 if it is mechanically sound.
