Hey everyone,

I was wondering if I purchase a StormLake drop in 40 to 9mm would I also have to change the recoil spring? Thanks for the input.

Use a factory barrel if you can find one. They are $65 and sometimes you find them on sale for $58. I have never read a problem with anyone using a factory barrel, but I have read about Storm problems. ;)

Yes, I have spoken with a few guys that use the Smith barrels with no problems at all. Midway is out for another month or so but big difference in price.

It's just the standard 9mm barrel. Saw a big write up on it here a while back with measurements and everything. I guess the only real difference between the .40 and the 9mm barrel is the hole down the center. You can't go the other way though.

The regular 9mm barrels aren't listed on midway at all. Did I miss something? I know you said they were out of stock but from what I can see they keep things listed on their site if they're no longer in stock. Thanks.

Is there anywhere to buy a factory 9mm barrel for the compact? I dont see one listed @midway.

thanks

I have put approximately 1000 rounds through my 9mm barrel (M&P .40c) without a single problem and I continue to use the .40 mags with the 9mm's. Rarely the last round will not feed from the .40 mag. but other than that it has been 100% reliable. Our dept. gunsmith (we are issued .40 FS for carry) advised that the dimensions are so close that there is no issue with interchanging them at will, FWIW. Good Luck.

Wish I would have known that you can put 9mm in a 40 mag earlier. At least I know I'll have no problem with the pistol now.
