Questions about my first model 15-7

Thanks Tony! Yes, originally I was looking at a model 15-7 that was a bit more beat up than this one. I went with this model 15-3 because it was in better shape and the gunsmith said it looked to have been shot less than the 15-7. I'll definitely post pics with the new grips as soon as they get here!

I already love this gun Stan! lol

Thanks for your input on the value. I appreciate the feedback!

I think I prefer stainless as well. This was just one that I couldn't pass up!

Looks like you did good. Don't fret over the finish just shoot it like you stole it. I have a few with some scars but they are great shooters. I am also in FL and wouldn't taking a peek at the shop you mentioned. If you are willing to share shoot me a PM. Bob

Thanks Bob! Yes it shoots great! I love it. Here's the shop if you're interested in picking one up! :)

Thanks it's about a 2 hour drive from my home.
Be careful these things are addictive.

No , your gun actually looks nice. Once upon a time , I was issued an M15 that had 0% finish. ( I later accidently gave it a T-4 finish that perked it up quite well.) It had a very smooth action , and shot 1.0in groups at 25yds.

Blued guns that are actually carried WILL show blue wear. End of sentance. Period. Be it LE/ Corrections / Security/ Joe public who actually used it. Up into the 1980's this was well know and expected. A gun without blue wear was the moral equiv of buying a new sports car ( or new 4x4 ) , they parking it in the garage on jack stands under a cover and never using it for its intended purpose. And no , rust wasn't a big issue usually. Periodic clean and wipe down , plus every time it was rained upon.Holster wear was a mark of honor , rust was a mark of shame.

The big deal with stainless guns wasn't so much rust resistancr , but minimal obvious signs of holster wear.
