Was outside helping Mom in the gardens some today on the first day of vacation. Saw a anole lizard out back with what kinda looked like a Sunday go to meeting hat. Took a pic and from another angle it became quite obvious that he had picked up a right nice extra large meal, a sphinx moth. Also known as a hummingbird moth.

Last weekend, went down to Socorro , NM to a Gun Show!
Say what? In NM? Yes People.
First one in over a year.
It is true, This Too Shall Pass.
So I go on down to one of my fav places, Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge.
The Cranes are gone, a few Ducks, geese and those Coots still there.
And a few misc Water Birds.
Here’s one.

I thought this sight today at the local Cabela's was indicative of the situation regarding firearms and ammo locally.
Their pre-owned "Gun Library" was just empty shelves, and two large gun safes were positioned to block the entry doors. All framed by Cape Buffalo and Elephant tusk mounts harkening back to better days.

The San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge is on the coast about 1 1/2 hours from my place. I decided to take advantage of the good weather and vacation to run down and check it out. One of my favorites of the day was a green heron 15 feet up in a tree. First pic is "What the heck is he stalking way up in that tree?!" and the second pic is "Okay, that is what he is stalking in that tree."

Just imagine the number of grip sets you could get out of those tusks?
