Random Object Photographs

First date

I have been trying to find this pic for weeks to post in this thread. Just now looking for something else I stumbled across it. I guess if you lose enough stuff you will eventually start finding some of it.

Any how this was the day I met Miss Pam my friend and I were on a day ride and he was looking for his girlfriend. Turns out that she was Pam's best friend and was over at her house. Me and my bud rode over there and Pam and I hit it off right away. We would up going on a brief ride out to a local park. It was August 8, 1971.

Easily the luckiest, life changin'est day of my life. The blind squirrel syndrome was all over me that day. :D

Guess #1
The ID tag on the differential housing of a vehicle.

Good first guess! Ford F-350, bought used, this gave me the gear ratio & limited-slip info. I've found as I get older it's a lot easier to see details, given the time of course, to take a photo of something and blow it up and maybe edit the colors on the 'puter. With some scanned old photos, I've found a big bunch of details that I couldn't see even under an illuminated magnifier.

Since we're including parents in the random object thread (I'm pretty sure if I had called either of my folks a random object I would've ended up buried in the backyard) here's one of Mom, just before she passed from lung cancer:

Growing up we had strict rules concerning the boys buying motorcycles: You had to take Mom for a ride. Here she's in her eighties and had been whittled down some, but rules are rules!

Pulling in a moment earlier, waving to the neighbors who were standing there catching flies:

Is that a 500 or a 750?

Anderson Island

I had to look up Anderson Island to find out where it is, then I had to read up on it.

So now, Anderson Island is added to the long list of places that make me say, "I wish I were there." Sounds like my kind of place. I like the photograph, and I like that setup a lot. Is it yours?

Does that mean there's hope that I might find some of my mind that I've lost over the past several decades?

sorry Watchdog. That only applies to physical objects. mental abilities, States of mind, levels of consciousness and the like, well, when they're gone they're just gone. At least that is how it works in my case.

Well, Jack, you may be right...but maybe there's hope for me yet.

I keep the lyrics to Amazing Grace in mind..."I once was lost, but now am found..."

The family of old high school friend has this wonderful spot.

OK, I've got to ask. What did you do/rating/etc?
I was the Bomb Director Supervisor for RVAH-12, responsible for the ASB-12 Bombing and Inertial Navigation System / flight deck trouble-shooting and maint/ setting up the inertial nav before launch. I was also Carrier Air Group nite check maint chief when my predecessor had a heart attack part way through the cruise. !4- 20 hour days were common.
