Random Object Photographs

There isn't anything really "random" about this photograph. Was just thinking how great it was to be outside all day with my Best Friends, ramblin' through the woods under Carolina blue skies. Sure beats layin' around inside watching television or shopping for groceries or a bunch of other mundane things.

I wouldn't have minded if it had been about thirty degrees colder, but that's okay...winter isn't over yet, I don't care what some groundhog says.

Hiking with my dogs today, I came across what I believe to be the remains of a building on some property that may have been a loblolly pine plantation a long time ago. There were quite a few large pine plantations around here...also cotton plantations, so I guess it could've been either one.

Before that, the area was farmed and hunted in the 1700s by the Sugaree Indians. They were later more or less wiped out by disease and wars with other tribes, and I believe they were assimilated into the Catawba tribes.

You can see things not seen before in the winter woods because the vegetation and leaves have thinned out. Chances are good I'd never have seen this in the summer.

Anyway, here's the photo. Click on it to view it larger.

Are you sure that wasn’t a drone?

Yeah, I'm sure. Dragonflies were everywhere around there, but only one stuck around while I was shooting. The rest of 'em must've been camera shy.

That shot makes me think of Reds, Sea Trout and blue crabs...mmmm

Beaufort has changed a lot, and not for the better, in my opinion. Tourists have discovered it over the past several years. There are still some nice little restaurants that the yankees haven't found yet, though...probably because they're too far off the beaten path. One in particular serves flounder stuffed with crab meat that will make you close your eyes and sigh with pleasure. It seems to have a totally different taste and texture from that served in Calabash, NC and Murrells Inlet, SC.

There I was, up in Antonio, CO. I follow a steam engine down to the water tank.
This dude drives up in his van, and fires up his drone.
Launches it right over me!
Yes it pisses me off!
And I’m not even a sensitive person!
And it’s agin the law to shoot at drones.
But I still some pics of fill that train with water!
Yes, it was a gorgeous day in Southern Colorado!
