I was told by a friend many years ago that they used those type of alligator clips to hold on to the end of marijuana joints so they could smoke all of the joint without burning their fingers.
At least that's what I remember him telling me.

I don't know if it still applies, but back in the 70s and 80s possession of one of those could buy you a "drug paraphernalia" charge.

When purchased.
I bought a used camper a few weeks ago and have been "upgrading" a few things and cleaning out the previous owners.
The camper is structurally good but the cosmetics were old and worn.
Yesterday I got my last blind installed - I had to wait a week for the bracket they shorted me - by the bed and got my new bedding out. I'm quite pleased with how everything is turning out. I still have plenty more to do.

Just Plain Ol' Good Food
Pile 'Em Up Bob's is not in a really great part of town, but it has a huge customer base, especially at lunch time.
It's grill food, mostly. Family owned and operated.
Cheeseburgers so thick, it's hard to take a bite out of one. Real French fries, served still piping hot slick with cooking oil and just begging for as much salt and pepper on 'em as you can stand. No fancy dancy buns with bird seed on 'em, either.
As a rule, the food served here is not all that good for you, okay? But damn, it sure tastes good.
There is no sit-down place to eat here. No tables and chairs. You can eat in your car. Or sit up against the building and eat. Or take it home with you.
It's a unique little place, and unfortunately, it's beginning to be "discovered" by the uptown crowd.

In all seriousness, sometimes the most ordinary things cry out to be photographed. The photographer's use of light and composition can take objects out of the snapshot category and turn them into something else entirely. The amount of alcohol consumed can also come into play, but we won't talk about that right now.

You have Bob's.....we have Ann's. Another place that will have your Cardiologist grabbing his chest, but the best damn chili footlongs and handspun milkshakes around.
Been around since 1950. Back in the day of big malls, they built one behind Ann's. They tried to buy the property and have them move into the food court and they got the extended middle finger. They learned thier lesson, and their opening ads were "The mall behind Ann's" Now Ann's is still going strong and the mall is almost empty.

24th Street Tracks - Looking North
Standing on the bridge, looking north along the tracks. This is the flip side of the view you see in Post #2212.
Run down and abandoned buildings. Dying auto repair shops offering $25 tune ups and $10 recaps. Trash left by street people littering the landscape. Need a used syringe or cooking spoon? Walk about fifteen feet further and look down.
The bleakness of the sky matches the landscape. I stood on the bridge for at least twenty minutes, looking around, thinking of what the area looked like when I was growing up. During that twenty minutes, I don't think one single solitary bird flew over.
The further north you go along these tracks, the nastier things look.
