Random Object Photographs

I played with the plasma cutter and dressed up a couple of my gates. I get a chuckle every time I look at the second photo! Hope you do too.
Nice work! (Esp. the 3-D dog...:D)

My neighbour's (now) 18 y.o. son was pretty handy with the plasma cutter at school and dod a really nice sign for their gate three years ago. I'll see if I can get a good pic.

The kid's amazing. Started hunting with his dad when he was 14. Welds better than I do - probably because, as he said, he spent all his lunch hours at school in the welding shop! His shop teacher said he's still welcome to come in and use the plasma cutter even though he's graduated. Has brains where most folks just have empty space.

After being restricted to self-defense since WWII, Japan has just operated fixed-wing warplanes from a naval ship for the first time since the war, on October 3, 2021. Ironically, the planes and pilots were U.S. Marine.

Japan's ruling party and new Prime Minister Fumio Kishida have pledged to double defense spending, in response to emerging threats from China.

Pic from today of my gf's garden in Bellingham WA, aka "Still life with cat."

She has just bought a mini drone just so she can get aerial shots of the garden. But she's too close to the airport to launch it w/o approval from the FAA, which she's desperately hoping will come before the garden is past its fall prime. (UPDATE: Authorization arrived on Oct. 15, so now waiting for some decent weather.)

That's a nice mix of colors and textures - I hope she gets her pics.

That mix is what she has been working on, aiming for a 'three season" garden that is only dormant in winter. Being just below the 49th helps.

She got clearance from the FAA today (Friday) so now she just has to figure out how to update the drone's firmware to allow it to operate.... and then wait for decent weather, which could be the middle of next week as we're in "drench" mode at the moment. (If the "atmospheric river" that is predicted for the Vancouver, British Columbia area materializes this weekend, I think there will be a lot of frantic googling for "How to Build an Ark" and a run on gopher wood.)
