Near miss. I always wondered about the fish, whales, etc. that were killed when a bomb went off in the oceans.
Saw a story once that claimed Naval use of SONAR was killing whales.
This is shock testing. Each class of ship gets it done. The photo is of USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71 undergoing shock test shortly after commissioning. For reference that is a 1003 foot long, 100,000 ton carrier making that explosion look huge. Not done every day.

Road to an old NM Gold Mining area.

Gold miners can be unsociable. There are many scattered about in the back areas of Alaska. Some signs, some gates, some nothing to warn a person. A friend and I crossed a river on our three-wheelers. There was a sign there stating keep-out. We hadn't been across 60 seconds and armed men came out of nowhere and said, "Git!" We gitted pronto.
Saw this tree on the South Rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in June. No idea how a tree twists like this.
Someone camped out under it and listened to Chubby Checker all night?
