Rant: Phrases That Annoy Me

"That's not the way it works" is one that gets me going. First, it is usually uttered by somebody defending a poor position just after I've called out the mess. Second, do I look like a 5-year old having trouble with his Legos?

Manifesting: the act of making something happen by imagining it and consciously thinking it will happen.

Politically correct me would call that wishful thinking. Snarky me would call that irrational to the point of willful delusion. And yet, that is a thing. <SMH>

Think I'm gonna manifest me winning lottery numbers.

Observation:

There were a number of olympic athletes who said in post win interviews that they'd already won the event in their minds. One even said that it played out exactly how she imagined it.

Isn't manifesting the same thing as praying for something to happen? If not, why not?

I get why the HR folks have come up with kinder, gentler terms for firing someone. But why "onboarding" to replace "hiring?"

So, would "overboarding" be the KG Term for firing somebody?
or
is describing someone deserting the floundering ship before the rest of the cast members, stakeholders or Team Members find out?.

Just thinking out side the box.

"XX item was provided by the lowest bidder" (cute phrase) while forgetting that the item met the standard of quality and performance established by the purchaser.

I guess those same folks would be OK with paying 500K for a house when another reputable contractors bid would meet their specs for 400K.
