Reaction to pain

i just learned about sciatica.
good time to lie there n cry.

I had bad sciatica several years ago. I was referred to a
neurosurgeon. He examined me and gave me some very
honest advice. He said I could operate on you and fix it,
or you could go home and lay flat on your back for a week
or so. Either way you will be well in six months.
I took the 2nd option and he was right.

I can take pain pretty well, especially after some of the medical procedures I've endured over the last several years. But finally this nagging back pain is finally giving up! That is the one thing I can't stand ,,,,a nagging constant pain especially in my lower back! Injured my back originally in my younger years and the discs are not regenerating themselves!
Stupid me  I will not be lifting anything heavy again! Since they took almost all of my back muscle to close the hole in my side I no longer have the strength in my left side!
I guess that's how it's going to be? ;)

Besides the gout attacks I no longer have, last year I got up fast in the middle of the night after hearing some commotion out in the pasture. Headed full blast in the dark for the back door I kicked a cast iron plant stand real hard. Pain put me straight down on the floor.
Next morning the 3rd 4th and 5th toes on my right foot were black and swollen. I iced them, took some veterinary prednisone and went to work.
After a week or so the swelling wasn't going away and neither was the pain. Went to see the doc and she sent me for x-rays. She called later in the week and said "your toes aren't sprained, all three are broken". They never did straighten out really. Still look kinda stubby and fat.

Different kinds of pain, different intensities, different circumstances = different reactions. Most times, in reaction to physical (or mental) trauma, a slew of obscenities either screamed or muttered, depending. On another hand, intense lower back spasms might knock the breath right out of my mouth as I hit the deck writhing.

Most discomfort I ever xperienced was when I tripped in my living room and dislocated my right shoulder. The pain was tolerable, barely. The worst part was spending a few hours being not correctly assembled, and unable to do anything about it until I could reach a doc who could slip it into place.

Worst pain was having my knee aspirated for fluid after a meniscus tear. Painted the air blue with a prodigious spate of blasphemies, and obscenities with a primarily Oedipal theme.

A little over a week ago I had to pull the batteries out of my motorhome. It's a bad lift position but since they leaked I had to get them out.
As it would happen with my luck  I hurt my back, lower part where I have problems!:(
Now I don't know if I should stand, sit or hang upside down by my feet but my back hurts! Driving me crazy!
Right now all the over the counter extra strength stuff isn't cutting it and I've had to go to some heavy duty pain meds :( which I really don't like taking but at least they are helping me sleep at night! ;)
I just can't win?
Just got finished with my IV antibiotics for bone infection and now doing the oral regimen, what's next?

Go buy yourself an Inversion Table (Google it). Best thing I ever did for lower back pain.

mainly I scream like a little girl.

As far as hurting myself goes, pretty much on par with stepping on a lego is smashing my shin into the trailer hitch on the back of the suburban. If you are around when that happens you are going to learn a lot of new curse words! :D
