Greetings,

I have what appears to be a K-frame rear sight assembly.

The odd part is the distance from the elevation screw hole to the mounting hole is about 1.760". Much shorter than the sights on my M-67 and M-14.

It certainly does not match up with any of my N-frame pistols.

Is there a chart showing the various hole patterns and models used on?

Cheers,

Dave

There were more than one configurations on the sight screw location.
Never remembered when the reference to which guns had the change instituted.
Must have been a change order issued, but no longer have my old books.

It's for a pre-14, pre-17,,ect.

The hole spacing changed when they went to the Model w/number system I believe (1957..?).

Similar change in the N frame revolvers,,a different hole spacing from the 'pre-model' guns to the Model# guns.
But the K and the N spacings are different from each other of course.
(IIRC the N frame guns attachment screw are approx .010 farther 'out' than the K frame)

A pre-14 in my hand (1954 mfg) measures right about 1.750 betw the centers of the adj screw and the attachment screw when checked with my MickyD Pro-Gunsmith Dial Caliper and Can Opener Survival Tool.

Unfortunately this information is incorrect.

Per SCSW4, Model 14, page211; "Engineering and production changes; 14-3 1967, Relocation of the rear sight leaf screw" This follows through all K-T Frame -3 changes for all models.

I had to look it up because I didn't recall the dash change. I did know it was after my 14-1 however.

Sorry, looks like I goofed up on when it came to be.
Thought they were changed at the model name/model # switch.

Open the cylinder and look under the top strap. If you can plainly see the attachment screw hole, it's the short hole spacing.
If not , it's forward up under the bbl shank,,it's the longer hole spacing.

The shorter/early spacing was changed with the -3 on all the K-frame adjustable sight models. So models 14,15,16,17,18,and 19 -2 and earlier will use the shorter spacing.
