Just noticed why i was shooting so well last weekend. Seems that the rear sight has moved its way to the left after 700rds. Any fix other than gluing it in place?

I have the previous version of the SD and the sight has a set screw. If you can get someone who changed there sights to send you there old one that might help.

You will need to locktite the screw once you get the sights adjusted as the screw can come loose and the sight will move. :o

If i can purchase one from another model,i would be willing to do that as well

You can get the M&P rear sight which fits the SD series just fine and has the set screw (that might have actually been the sight that came on the older SD series). They run about $15 from Brownells or MidwayUSA.

Yes, I believe that you are correct that the M&P sight will work as that is what the factory used on the the original SD models.

the m&p rear sight is a direct fit. make sure you get a sight set screw as well, as they do not come with the sight. call s&w, they'll send you one for free.

^ Can the rear sight from the mp be used? Is it even worth doing?

Yes. I reused the one from my m&p because I had replaced the sights on it. If I didn't have the extra I still would have bought one. Just going to a metal rear sight is worth the 15 dollars imho.

I would try SW. I just checked the last SD40VE I had and it does not have a set screw. I do know that the M&P sights work since I have put 2 sets on other SD40VE's. I went with TFO , they look great day or night. Be Safe,
