Anybody interested in this?

I tried cutting out EPS foam and the jigsaw spit foam particles everywhere! They clung to everything and on trial #2 using a fan made it worse. Polyfoam may be the answer to the liner. I'll wait for a professionals instruction like everyone else.

I wanted to build a reproduction case for a first year Model 57 until I can locate an original. They are a little different in that the mold has some give to it, not like styrofoam. I did a little research and came up with a way to make a respectable reproduction. This led to making a few customs.

No special tools required. A couple of hours of work. Any custom design possible. Excellent support and protection.

I have to make one pretty soon for an 8 3/8 inch K Frame. Does anybody want to see how it's done? If members here find this useful, I'll do a step by step.

I got rid of all of that blue imitation felt in all of my presentation cases (about 19) because the felt breaks down and will start to adhere to the gun and do damage to the finish. I replaced the felt over the plastic mold with a piece of foam rubber (comes in any color) cut to size and dried for several hours in the oven to prevent moisture. Works and looks great. Much better than that flaky blue felt and it does not attack the finish on the firearms.
Your cases look great but be careful with anything that comes in contact with the weapon for a period of time.

I used to do woodworking but not that type to make boxes and such. But the one you made is very nice (coming from an old woodworker). Can't wait till you show us how you make them.

Larry, I'm using factory S & W boxes and just replacing the interiors. I used to make boxes long ago and it was a lot of work and took a lot of equipment to do it right!
