What's wrong with the Gold Standard for the .41, a 215-grain LSWC?

...is probably a better choice for a 57 than a 250 because a lot of times one will run out of sight before one can zero the gun with the heavies. I know with my 57s with the rear sight bottomed out I am still several inches high at 25 yards with a 255 CP hardcast....

A 210-220 hardcast Keith with 9-10 grains of Unique is all one really needs...

Heck any of the bullets mentioned will do the job. My 4 inch 57 is sighted in with the WFNGC bullet and I am not going to change it It shoots 1 1/2 inches above the sights at about 25 yds which is perfect for me. Hogs are not really that hard to dispatch with decent hits in the right spots. I shoot the heavy bullets so that bones will get broken too

Jeromejr....you looking for target ammo, hunting ammo or self-defense ammo?

If you check on MidwayUSA.com and GunBroker.com they both have wide selections of .41 ammo. Reed's Ammo also has .41 Special that can be found on GunBroker.

I don't have a .41Mag but I shoot Buffalo Bore Outdoorsman in other calibers and they come with a non expanding aluminum hard cast bullet. This particular one has a 230gr Keith bullet.

Heavy .41 Magnum Pistol & Handgun Ammunition

I carry their 9mm SUBSONIC HEAVY STANDARD PRESSURE 147 gr. JHP as well as their 147gr. Hard Cast FN both duty and off-duty, so I trust them with my life!

Buffalo Bore 265gn hard cast. Right behind the ear. No chasing, just drops like a sack of potatoes.

I have hunted hogs in Texas and western Colorado. When the hog comes at You They dont stand and say OK shoot me here. The bigger bullet anywhere mostly works and a four inch tusk doesn't help Your leg. I hunt hogs with a .475 Linebaugh handgun and sometimes wish it was a .460 Weatherby.

I would use a LBT design 250 grain wide flat nose at around 1000 FPS.

I concur. This is 6 shots at 25 yds with a 250gr WFNGC...probably going about 1200fps from a 7 1/2" barrel?

But I wouldn't hesitate to use a 220gr SWC either.

I know this is the S&W Forum, and though I have several Smiths, I hunt with a Ruger Redhawk .41 mag with a 2X Leupold Handgun Scope on it. The ammo I have killed just about everything with is the Remington 240gr Platinum Tip. It is incredibly accurate out of this gun and it helped me take a book Fallow at 105 yards.

SMITHTEX....hope you have a stock pile of that ammo... Although it still shows on the Winchester website, there is very little to be had on the streets....
