Well, it looks like we get to cook for awhile. Looked at the 10 day forecast. The lowest high temp forecast is 90 on Wed. However tomorrows forecast high is 107. Then Sun. is 114. Mon is 107. To put it in perspective, in the over a century of recordkeeping, the highest recorded temp in Portland was 107 in 1942. Looks like the record is gonna fall. 90+ thru July 4th. The only AC we have is a portable unit in my father's room. So, lots of fans, lots of fluids and a lot less clothing. I may try putting a cast iron pan in the sun and cooking an egg. Or I might just burst into flame and do my Richard Pryor impression.

Time to get more ACs, maybe? There was a hue and cry here recently when we had 110+ degrees for 10 consecutive days. But I recall the 4 consecutive 117 degree days in June 2017, so I don't react to the over-reaction of weather reporters.

Historically, we've never needed AC. Usually gets cool enough at night. For instance, Seattle has been recording weather at the airport since 1945. In that whole time it hasn't got below 70 only once. They look to at least triple that this week. Here in Portland we normally get 2 or 3 days over 100 in the summer. We will have 3 in the next 3 days. I'm shopping central air units.

Better hot than freezing. I lived in the glaciers and tundra of north eastern Ohio for 10 years. I will not complain about the heat.

I've got a furnace. Place stays comfortable even below zero. Without the AC the house is about 5-10 degrees below outside temp. So I can look forward to it being near 100 in here the next three days.

Ya know what?

You should go downtown and start a riot, cops should leave you alone but the fire dept will spray you down and that will cool you off and you'll make the six oclock nooz.

Not too bad here this week. Chance of a pop up rain about every day, but it's typical for a Florida summer.

Well it is hot here. But N. Texas always hits the triple digits in August if not before. Low humidity is the only reason it isn't fatal, for me at least. Our high temps are in the mid to upper 90s now and it isn't even July yet.

Well, the National Weather Service has us "only" at 109 degrees on Sunday, without the TV surcharge.

But even that is only 9 degrees below Sunday's forecast for Furnace Creek in Death Valley. For summer, that's pretty impressive.

Yeah. The best thing about here is the weather. Not too hot, not too cold. But 109? That's pushing it. Into fire season now, and after last year, I'm not looking forward to a hot summer. Watch your sparks, folks. Anybody shooting off fireworks in the forest on the Fourth should be shot. Or at least charged with attempted manslaughter.

God bless.

Remind me if I'm complaining about snow in six months.

As my Dad used to say, "It's easier to keep warm than to keep cool."

Stay safe.

I'll be alright. I know how to cope. Wet head, plenty of fluids, keep the house cool and dark. etc.. My father, however, has dementia and forgets to drink, puts on inappropriate clothing, goes out and sits in the sun,etc... So I have to keep a close eye on him. Glad we got the AC in his room so he has a cool place to go.
