Red dot on scope

What's a good set up for placing a dot on a scope to switch from close to medium distances thru a scope and which ones to use ? Pics would also be great. . Thanks

Sounds like it? What is the intended purpose of the gun? That may help as I'm scratching my head as to why both are needed on the 15-22. Then again there is the motto "if you can do it, then why not?"

You could use a scope mount like the Burris PEPR, which has a secondary rail above the scope to mount something like the Burris Fastfire. Or, use a 45 degree rail riser (Weaver, Yankee Hill) and add something like the small Fastfire to that.

You might want to consider a 2-7 or 1-4 power scope. That should cover you from 5-10 yds out to 100+.

If your just shooting plates, you could go with a Red Dot and a flip out magnifier for the dot.

Medium distance, if you are taking about 25yds to 50yds, then Vortex Strikefire or SightMark Red Dot are fine. Bonus Vortex does have a 2X magnification (not fast but it does work) only draw back is your field of view is reduced. Gotfish hit the mark with the Burris ext. tactical $609. Vortex also has a 1X to 4X called the Viper PST 1-4X24 for about $599.

I'm not a fan of the red dot mounted on a scope due to the fact it sticks up so high and you will hit everything and it's mother, when needed it may not be zeroed (This is in the real world, not from gun case to range for targeting, street uses or military field uses is what I'm testing my builds on, but that's just me).

I'm leaning toward a red dot at 45 degrees instead of on top of the scope . The POI or POA is greatly affected after 25 yards I have been told. I do have an STS that I'm not using on anything right now I just need to find a scope to compliment it.

$12 nebo led/strobe! Works great for skunks and possum around the house. Temp 'til I get a tac light.
