What do you prefer, I have a tasco red dot from walmart I can take it back and get a scope. What all do you guys prefer?
I couldn't be more pleased with my Vortex Strikefire mated with my Primary Arms 3x long-relief magnifier in an ADM mount.

The optics work wonderfully, and I honestly couldn't ask for more. From chasing squirrels through the trees to punching paper, this set-up gets the job done.
I REALLY like the Vortex; and this is coming from someone who has 4 Aimpints on other rifles.
For low-light, early evening use, it's really fun to strap on the L72, also:

Does this setup give you absolute cowitness?

Let me add that I used to be hung up on "cowitness" until I got my first set of flip-down sights.
Now, I'd much rather just flip the sights down and run a dot.
Dot fails? WGAF? Flip a lever, throw the dot to the side, push some buttons, and flip up your BUIS.
Red dots/reflex sights are what they are for a reason -- FAST.
There's no real need to line up a third factor into the equasion (1= rear sight, 2= front sight, 3= red dot). Just do the dot, and keep it simple, stupid (KISS).
After I unwrapped my head around the cowitness thing, I've expanded my horizons much.
Think about it -- when you use a traditional scope on a rifle -- you simply look through the scope, and nothing else, right? OK. Now, wrap your head around the idea of looking through just a red dot/reflex sight, and then you're gettin' it!
Cowitness is not needed, IMHO. However, a good QR mount is.![]()
