Tried the Remington BR small rifle primer today. I tried two XDm's, one M&P and one Ruger Bisley .357 with custom trigger work by Alan Harton.

Could not get the M&P to fire.
Both XD's fired occasionally.
Ruger fired every time even with the lightened hammer fall. I guess there is something to be said for inertia of that big hammer falling.

The Remington #7 1/2 BR primers are among the hardest primers made. They were made to be used in the 17 Remington, which is a very high pressure round. Successful use of these in a handgun would be iffy.

not ar all iffy. they work just fine in the .454 Casull, where they are recommended by Dick Casull and Freedom Arms. also work very well in high pressure applications in .357Magnum, .32-20WCF, .357Maximum and .30 Carbine.
