I just purchased the above ammo to shoot in my Dad's model 14 with a DOB around 1967. When I chamber it in my 442-2 it has about an eighth of an inch of space between the tip of the bullet and the front face of the cylinder. My J frame uses the J magnum frame with the corresponding longer 38 special cylinder. I am wondering if when I load these into the model 14 that they will be too long for the older 38 cylinder. I hope that I'll be able to close the cylinder of the model 14. I also wonder if the bullets will jump crimp and tie up the gun. The ammo is 158 grain RNL in the green and white UMC box. What do you guys think?

Will they jump crimp in the 442? Possibly, you'll have to shoot some to find out.

Will they fit the K-38, absolutely. The K-Frame .38 with the 1 9/16" cylinder, which began with the Model 1899 M&P, is the gun that the .38 Special was specifically designed to fit! There is no .38 Special caliber revolver ever manufactured, including Spanish copies, that will not function with that load!

I agree, any factory .38 Special ammo that's properly made and not damaged will fit in your Model 14. BTW, the M14 is a great revolver, enjoy... (where are the pictures??)
