Remington pump

Here's a 7615 Police I was lucky to find from a member here.

Always a sucker for odd-ball stuff, it's a pump action using AR-15 magazines. Pictured here with a Colt 20-rounder. If I can find it, I'll post a pic of my 25-yard off a bench target too.

Those are fun guns and shoot great. Not sure why they didn't go over well. Mine is a police trade-in with a collapsible stock.

Don't think mine was ever issued to a department. No markings of any kind on it to indicate that.

I notice our sites are different. My rear is Wilson Combat. My scope mount is marked "pri-mounts.com" and "7615P". That must have been added later or surely it would have no marking or maybe say "Remington".

The guns were a total flop on the civilian market but saw some limited adoption by certain restricted LEO agencies hamstrung by politicians who were afraid AR-15s would appear too "military" to the general public.

I've read mixed reports on the reliability and durability of the 7615s. They are inferior in firepower to an AR, lack aftermarket parts support, and used examples cost quite a bit more than an entry grade AR. Most seen for sale on the secondary market are thrashed LEO trade ins with mangled stocks and worn finishes.

These makes 0 sense when cheap quality AR-15s are so plentiful these days. They put police officers at a distinct disadvantage and they were solely invented by politicians and bean counters as a PR-based decision, not a practical one.

The Remington 7600 series are interesting guns but are best left as the hunting rifles they were originally designed to be IMHO.

Mine doesn't have any department markings but I bought it from a police supply store. A local department had traded in a half dozen of them. They were available with the regular rifle sights of the peep sight. I wish mine had the peep sight. I can't see the rifle sights anymore so I've got a scope on it for now. Any stock for an 870 will work on them.

I talked with a policeman that had been issued one. They were supposedly easier to transition to than an AR-15. They handled just like the 870's they had been using for years since the stock is the same. Also the safety and slide release are the same as an 870.

I bought my first AR from a policeman back in 2006. His department only issued pistols and shotguns but allowed the officers to use a personal AR-15. A new chief came in and decided the AR's looked to scary. I bought the AR so he could buy a Mini-14 which was approved by the new chief.

Looks like a fine, handy little rifle.

I had one a few years back.... easily shot sub MOA groups with almost any load, mine had a BOYDS laminated stock and forearm.
I just did not shoot it much
I looked at it as a solution for which there was no problem and sold it....kind of unusual for me!
