Hi,
I have a chance to get a .357 Lady Smith revolver with 3"bbl and nice wood grips. I am not too keen on having "lady smith" written on the side. Is there any way to remove it and keep the finish nice? Are there any gunsmiths that do that type of work? Thanks for any advice!

Thanks for any advice!

No simple way to remove it without leaving a scar.

Leave it as is, and if anybody calls you effeminate, just hit them with your purse.....

Leave it alone. If anyone asks just tell them it's your wife's or girlfriends. But if you have to use it, whoever you shoot isn't going to care WHAT it says.

That Lady Smith 65 is what I would consider one of "the guns" for carry. Leave the logo on the side and be glad you've got one of the great ones. Most Forum members would be green with envy over it.

..........or sell it to me, I can handle the writing!

If it really bothers you, bring it legally to Kalifornia and sell it to me for $500. I'd love to have it.

I have seen LS models where the sideplate is actually engraved, and some where it is laser etched. I think you could polish out the laser etched one if you tried, or at least make it fainter. Someone posted a pic once of a polished M65 LS, and due to the polishing the "ladysmith" on the side plate was barely visible anymore.

I would never think about removing the lady smith logo. The reason being if you were ever unlucky enough to be forced to shot a miscreant, one of the numerous ambitious anti gun Democrat DAs would have a hard time saying in court that you were some kind of macho Rambo type looking for an excuse to shoot someone. After all what self respecting Rambo type would be caught dead carrying a revolver with a model named "lady smith".

Good point about Lady Smith NOT being a macho, shoot anyone kind of guy. I think I'll just leave it on and not take any chances messing up the finish. Thanks for all the replies!!

I have a model 60 LS, I toss it in the range bag, if I see a pretty girl alone, I give it to her and tell her to shoot it all she wants. It has a great trigger job on it, always better than the one they brought by a couple of pounds on DA. I even had one offer to trade me her air lite for my Lady Smith on the spot.

Somebody out there wants one that says "Lady Smith", If the lettering bothers you that bad and its too good a deal to pass up then get it then trade it for a standard model.

In the meen time shoot it and enjoy it.

Good!
Put the pink grips AND highlight the "LadySmith" lettering on the 65L/S and I'll STILL carry it!
