Respect and Dignity at funerals

I saw a drive up funeral home on TV, I think it was in Ca, you drive up to the window, say your goodby' s and drive off.

Funeral

What goes around comes around .
When i was young at a wedding I would grab a young mans coat and say your next .
Now at funerals I have kids pulling my jacket and saying your next . OldSeabee

My Dad was born and grew up in Lahaina on Maui, Hawaii. He wanted his ashes scattered at sea off the coast there like his Dad and Brother. We brought the urn out there and chartered a boat, at a suitable distance offshore I fixed a couple of strong drinks for my Mom, my wife, and I, and then poured one of Dad's favorites into his ashes before scattering them over the side, I'm sure he appreciated that. A whale surfaced nearby we took that as a good omen.

Recently, the governor of our state attended the funeral of a police officer that was killed in the line of duty by an illegal immigrant. The governor was seen texting during the service.

That's all I can say without getting dinged.

Yeah, but that is an example of disrespect that I'm talking about.

I have a dark blue suit I call my marrying and burying suit.

Last funeral I attended was one of those casual affairs that is the subject of this thread.

On my way in a couple of different people asked me if I was the preacher.

As it turned out there was no preacher. The funeral director kinda managed the affair.

Attendees were asked to speak, so I did get to preach it bit.

My observation is that most of the well dressed were older folks,
The shorts and flip-flops were generally the younger ones.

I remember when we went somewhere on the airlines it was a
dress up affair. Look at it now.

I was told by a credible source that he and his staff were not welcome to attend last week's memorial, and I saw no sign of anyone from that office.
