Hello all,
I wrote Representative Steve Barrar (PA) regarding my concerns about the pending infringement of our Second Amendment rights. Here is his response:

Good morning David
Thank you for your emails and contacting me with your concerns about additional gun laws. Just like you I am concerned that the Federal Congress and State Legislature all over the country will over react to this horrible tragedy.
I was very happy to receive emails from you and many other constituents asking me not to buy into this argument about passing more gun control laws especially when we really don't do a good job of enforcing the laws already on our books that increase jail sentences for criminals that commit crimes using a firearm.
I have asked others calling me that say we need new gun laws to prevent this from ever happening again what law would have prevented this from happening they have no answers and say... I must support what ever laws the president proposes... Even though they don't know what he is going to propose.
Lets be honest here... You and I known that the goal of the left for the past 40 years has been to disarm all Americans and make gun ownership as rare and difficult as possible. I support the 2nd amendment because I truly believe if we let government eliminate this amendment they will take others and we will be left defenseless. So you and others like you had better start to speak out and start screaming about defending your rights, silence will lead to our destruction.
So as this debate continues I am sure we will review our gun laws and mental health laws to see if we can do anything to improve on what will currently have written in law. We must improve school safety and fund safe school programs, but we must not over react either. I hope and pray we see a strong show of support from the citizens of Pa. and the Pa. General Assembly in this legislative session.
David... I hope this answer your concern about my position on gun control, if not please feel free to contact me again. This is such a special time of the year, so let me wish you and your family a Happy New Year.
Sincerely, yours in Liberty!

Postscript: I am very impressed with his response. It contains none of the political double-speak that we've been hearing lately. We need more straightforward representatives like him.
