Just can't resist these cop guns.

Latest is a 4566 that cleaned up real nice once I dug out the mud, grud and blood:

I hear depleted Uranium works pretty good;)

You could give Trijicon a call - they would probably re-lamp the factory sights for $54.

I did exactly what jsbethel suggested...sent my 4006 slides to Trijicon and they were back in about 10 days. Great value in all aspects. You will not regret it.

First of all that old .45 sure looks like a brand new gun. Congrats on a great find and for bringing her back to beauty!

I had a set of night sights relamped a few years ago. The original tritium tubes lasted a good 12 years and then became pretty dim. I could only see them glowing in a completely dark room. I sent the sights back to the manufacturer and they relamped the Novak low mount sights. They are nice and bright again and it was quite inexpensive compared to replacing the front and rear sights with or without night sights!

Nice looking .45. Congrats on a good weapon. Just curious though, your backdrop for the guns is AF pattern camo, but the affiliation bar shows Army. is there some tom-foolery afoot here?

Good on 'ya! Someone finally noticed.:o
Truth is, when I was looking for a new background sheet, the local Wally-World fabric dep't only had USAF camo. It actually works pretty well, all interservice rivalries aside.
And, I have nothing but the highest regards for our AF colleagues who were always there for (and often with) us.

Thanks for looking, shoot straight and often.

And now for a shameless plug:

The 4566 is one of the underestimated GREAT guns in modern times. I bought two ex-Atlanta PD guns. Once they were de-loused, they cleaned up well. Mine had oodles of holster wear and scratches (if only they could talk!!!). I doused the slide/frame with spray CLP and hit it with a green Scotch-Brite pad. After the greasy crud was washed off in the sink (hot water and Dial A-B soap), I hit it with CLP again and finished it off with 2400 grit paper. The effect was wonderous.

I also bought a new set of the S&W straight/curved grips. I sent them off to ROBAR who stippled them. They saved the S&W emblems. They garner a lot of comments.

The second gun was made into a light gun with the addition of a Stainless Novak rail made for a 1911. It mates perfectly with the contours of the dust cover. If I go back into L.E when I retire from the USMC, it will be my main duty gun with the other 'slick' gun as a spare/off-duty piece.

Congrats on your purchase! They are exceedingly GREAT pistols!

The guns are almost indestructable! I was amazed at the durability

Kudos on finding such a nice specimen. I'm seriously looking into getting a .45 for my next hg. The 4566 seems to be a logical choice considering how much I like my 5906 already. I am begining to feel the 3rd gen addiction start to take over.

Krehmkej,

Sorry about not posting pics. I was FINALLY able to decipher HOW to post photos. Here are my 4566s.

The Novak M1913 rail for the 1911 bolted right on, as did the X300 DevGroup switch for the SIG P220/226.

I can't resist these cop guns either. I didn't have to do a thing to it...it was well taken care of.

Fairlane67, Where did you get that WVSP 4566? I have been waiting for these to show up somewhere. Was it at a local shop or does some distributor have them? Beautiful gun!
