Revolvers chambered in auto pistol calibers

I know there are revolvers made for .45ACP and even a few made for 9mm.

How about revolvers made for shooting the .380ACP?

Or any other auto caliber?

About 40 years ago (before I found out you wern't 'sposed to) I fired many box's of .32 ACP through a S&W "New departure". I still have all my fingers & eyes, and the gun is still tight.

This is not a good idea however. As far as guns MADE to fire semi-auto rds, I think there were some european revolvers made for .32 ACP and .25 ACP but I'm not real sure.

There was a revolver called the 'Medusa' or some-such.

Fired about anything with a .355-.357 bullet, including .380, 9mm, 9mm Largo, .38 Super, .38acp .38S&W, .38 Special, .357 magnum, etc....all in one revolver!

How well did it work?...have no idea.

Obviously these are just S&W's and I'm sure I've missed several models.

Other manufacturers like Colt, Ruger, and Taurus have also made revovers in "auto" calibers.

Around 1999 Colt designed a revolver based on the Medusa system. They made some samples, and it worked as advertised. It never went to production. IIRC, it as a stainless steel gun, and not bad looking for a Colt.

I had a Ruger .357 that had an extra cylinder for 9mm. Owned that piece for 25 years and never found that I had to use the 9mm.

I have a Taurus Mod 76 .32 Mag and fire .32 acps out of it with no harm.They are not rimless, they are semi rimmed and eject quite easily.

My fav is a Colt Custom Combat 10 electroless nickle. Got a G20 +1" Olympic barrel, and a stock G20, Colt Double Eagle 10mm, 1006, Kimber Stainless Target tritium adj Meprolites, and a Colt SS enhanced. I aquired the Kimber after I registered as 7tenz, so I just sign out 8tenz. I wanted to change it, but at the time they wouldn't accept hotmail.

I am envious of some 10mm collections I've seen. I'd like to have a 5" 610 some day.

I hadn't noticed your sig 8tenz. Your have a good collection IMO. I've been a fan of 10mm for a while. My favorite is a my Dan Wesson Pointman 7 but I also have a S&W 1076, S&W 610 4" (x2), S&W 310NG, Colt Delta Elite (x2 SS and Blue) Kimber Stainless Target II, Springfield Omega 6", Glock 20 (x2), Glock 29 and a IAI Javelina 7". I'd love to have a Bren but I'm quite sure I'll never own one, unless I win the lottery or something. Your Lew Horton is quite pricey if you can find one but I keep on looking for one.

I've got one. A Nagant gas seal revolver cal 7.62 Nagant that came with an extra cylinder to fire 32 acp. The neat thing is the 32 ammo shoots to the sights and is more accurate than the original chambering.

A few years ago I had a chance to shoot what looked like a S&W Model 10 chambered in 9mm which had been made on contract for the Hong Kong police dept. Had lanyard ring as I recall. I also had a Ruger Blackhawk in .357/.38 which had a second cylinder in 9mm.

It was made locally..up near Conroe, TX (Montgomery County). They weren't made very long and I have NEVER seen any examples of them...even at a gunshow.

I think they were more of a fluke than anything, which is kind of a shame.
Imagine an eight shot DA revolver with a 3-4" tube that could fire ANY .38/.355 round.

I've got a Smith 25-2. It's a great, highly accurate gun. I used to have a Smith M1917.

Other than another REAL M1917, or some kind of lockless 2" N frame in .45acp, I wouldn't have any reason to buy another revolver chambered for an auto pistol cartridge.

Ruger made .380's for the overseas market. The Buckeye Blackhawk convertibles chamber 10MM/38-40 Win along with some Vaqueros that were made in 40 S&W and convertibles made in 38-40/40S&W.
