I've been shooting for years but was never into 1911s. Probably because none of my friends had one. Closest I had was my old Star PD. So I bought an RIA 1911 and gave it a try. It was a Government Model so it had little sights but still shot well. So I got a couple more RIAs. A .45 with better sights, and a nickel .38 super. They were fun to shoot. Then I decided I better get the real thing, so I bought some Colts last year.
A Gold Cup from '83, a Nickel Government Model from '76, and an unfired early Delta Elite. These are all really cool but I haven't fired them yet. Still shooting the RIAs!

I've got the RIA in 45acp, 9mm, and 380. Same 1911 platform on all three. I consider them equal to a Colt, and a pleasure to fire. The Baby Rock in 380acp is the only one that will have to visit a gunsmith - trigger pull is much toooooo heavy for my old hands.

No issues with my Rocks! 9mm full size and .40 Commander. Have a Colt Gold cup Trophy in .45 & Sig full size .45. Shoot the Sig best! Bob
