If you've already bought the scope, so be it. Depending on your eyes, range, etc, the general advice is to start with the flip up sights. Perhaps get a red dot. Use the rifle first before you start to spend money on accessories.

That being said............

Looks like it has a tube diameter of 1". So, any 1" diameter scope rings would work.

As far as height, it's your call. You aren't going to see the flip up sights at 3x maginification anyways. You can leave the 'iron' magpul sights on.

A lot of people like the PEPR mounts:

Same, but with quick-detach:

The main issue mounting a scope is the proper height rings/mounts, when I had a 44mm objective lens scope I bought medium size mounts 15.5mm from rail to bottom (where the scope sits) and I didn't have enough clearance to mount it so I had to put the mounts on a riser block, which gave me clearance but more importantly (for me anyways) it gave me the proper height to allow me to get optimum view down the scope, maintaining a positive cheek weld and without straining my head to the rifle, allowing for correct posture (I only shoot offhand) I have recently put a smaller scope on but still use the riser, it makes target acquisition more immediate and comfortable and repeatable......google is your friend in this instance.

I have the Burris pepr mount on an ar15 and it is a quality piece, but on my 22's I used the Nikon p-22 mounts which were less $ and then a $20 set of 45 degree offset iron sights off amazon. Good luck, there are a lot of options and most will do the job just fine.

I have and like the Warne rings that are made for an AR. The model number for the aluminum, quick detach, 1" tube, with matte finish is A204LM. The first link is to the Warne product page with info on the rings. They come in aluminum or steel. I got the aluminum to keep the weight down. They aren't always easy to find; the second link is to a listing on eBay (you can search on Warne A204LM).

Oh and yes you will remove the sights. The reason some use optics and sights combined is because those particular optics are battery powered and could fail. You have no such problem with a regular scope.

Off with the sights...

Thanks guys fo the help.Working so much overtime and on call also, sorry checking in late.I do appreciate all the help.As these guns are new to me.I thought this might help in my decision on buying a ar 15.If not the collapseable stock will help with my 9 year old daughter.I bought her t/c hot shot but the stock is to big for her.She is a small thing. So the 15-22 will be a win situation either way.

My 11 year old girl and 8 year old boy both love the 15-22...I said "the" 15-22 because it's not mine anymore...they took it away from me! When I get my Sparrow out of jail and put it on there they will never give it back!

If the first half of your statement is correct dullh, then the second half needs to be corrected, (when you get THEIR sparrow out of jail) LOL. More kids shooting, More better !!!

Just info here, but I used the Nikon P223 mount with a 3x9x40 Nikon scope and the rear Magpul site does fit under the scope with this mount, but I switched to 45 degree offset mounts later. It's a great gun, Enjoy.

They are the beneficiaries of my NFA trust, so that is correct.

Too bad they won't share with me...:(

I worked till 10:30 last night.Tonight is last night on call.I will check in more often after tonight. Thanks everyone for the info.I have not bought any optics yet.I have a Nikon rimfire 3-9x40 on a 50th anniversary marlin 60 and really like it.I wonder if the S&W will out shoot the marlin.

I wonder if the S&W will out shoot the marlin.

I received my Model 60 for Christmas back in 1980. 35 years later it is still the "bees knees". Mine has a BSA scope and it's as close to a "tack driver" as one can get in a mass-production rimfire rifle.

The 15-22 will NOT outshoot the Model 60. Compared to the 60, the 15-22 is a bullet hose - but I love them both and I wouldn't part with either of them.

I have a similar issue with mounting a Vortex 3x9-40. I've tried the UTG high mount rings but still not enough clearance over the rear sights. I would like to keep them on if possible, but a riser seems like it would bring the scope too high. Is it better to mount the scope as low as possible or keep the MBUIS sights and raise the scope?
Is it an option to mount the MBUIS sights at an angle with this setup? Will a standard 45 degree picatinny offset rail work?

Anyone have a solution? I'm in the same boat as the rear MBUS won't clear my Nikon P-Rimfire 2-7x32 with the Nikon P-Series 1" rings.

Mount

I'm of the opinion that once you mount your scope on your 15/22 you will no longer use your BUIS again. If you do want to utilize them you will need to drop more $ then you probably paid for the scope in get a quality 1 piece QD mount that will hold it's zero after being removed and reattached. It's just to fun having the accuracty of a scoped rifle to shoot paper, steel or critters. My suggestion is remove the BUIS and never look back. Now if you have a AR with BUIS moving to an offset mount is a great idea and will give the shooter one more practice situation. Go enjoy your rifle, they are big fun!
