RIP Harry Dean Stanton

Rancho Deluxe!
Bo Bridges, Sam Waterson, Slim Pickens, Warren Oakes, Jimmy Buffet, and a bunch of other actors, and HDS!
Modern day Cattle Rustling! A Bull in a motel room!
If you haven't seen it, do it!

Warren Oates was in Ninety-two in the Shade, but he didn't make it into Rancho Deluxe as far as I could tell. And it was Jeff Bridges, with Sam Waterston, Elizabeth Ashley, Harry Dean Stanton, Richard Bright, Clifton James, Charlene Dallas, and last but not least, Slim Pickens as stock detective Henry Beige. Dozens of memorable quotes. See it, by all means. But not with me. I quote it like x-ers do the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It will drive you nuts.

Know him by name now. Rip.

Boy we're dropping like flys on the no pest strip now. It's the circle of life. Remember our bodies are vessels to get us to the next life. Remember in heaven there aint no beer that's why we drink it here, start drinking boys.
Life goes by so fast. Godbless.

Mr Gaunt as I called him passed today at 91. He was in more movies than I care to think of, but I'll always remember him as the first victim in Alien.

I always enjoyed watching him and enjoyed many a movie and tv episode with him in them. Favorite movies include: Kelly's Heroes and Cool Hand Luke.

Rest in Peace Harry.:o:o

Ya know-not long ago, someone here started a Harry Dean Stanton appreciation thread.....

Just remembered he was also in: Escape From New York along with Ernest Borgnine.

I loved him in Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid when the kid (Kristofferson) breaks out and makes it back to Fort Sumner and reclaims his gal from HDS.

If you've never seen "The Black Marble" and are a HDS fan, you owe it to yourself.

RIP good buddy.

15-20 years ago i told some friends that if harry dean stanton was in a movie it would usually be a good movie, i was always a fan of harry. he had a long good life and may he rip!

A fellow native Kentuckian, Rest in Peace, Mr. Stanton.

Another great character actor, Frank Vincent, also passed away last week. Many will remember him as "Billy Batts", the made Mafioso who Joe Pesci killed in "Goodfellas", and as Phil Leotardo in "The Sopranos". Mr. Vincent had the voice of an angel, and he used to open for Frank Sinatra in the 60's and 70's; a multi-talented man, for sure.

I may have said similar words in an earlier post, but movies can't be made without actors like Harry Dean Stanton and Frank Vincent. They surely put the "character" into character actor.

Harry and Frank, you surely entertained me. Thanks for the memories.
