Roy & Dale ... I am shocked .... SHOCKED I tell you !!

Dang! That was masterfully written, I say.
Takes me right back there. Being a country kid
I had to wait for TV, no B movies and such.
Did she really shoot center mass?
Dang, what was that little thing she carried?
Somebody here knows. Little .32 revolver of some kind?
This is such a good place to hang out.
Maybe I should have looked into those 5906 spares?

I didn't mess around with a six shooter, my trusty 1911 official US Army .45 held a full roll of caps! My long deceased brother in law, gave this to me around 1949.

Have a blessed day

I see you are one of those fellas who carries with an empty chamber.

I always like to see them say "throw down your guns" they never seem to hit on the hammers. I would think a lot of outlaws might have cashed in doing that. Jeff

You have to admit that the "King of the Cowboys" did have some very classie looking out fits, that were to die for.

I have no idea what one of those custom beaded, outfits cost but it had to
take a week or so to make, I am guessing.

The "White Hat" was quite the thing but there was on guy that I also liked and he wore a black hat and his name was Dale Robertsons in the
"Tales of Wells Fargo".

Ah yes, the good old days of black & white TV.

Triple LIKE!! Still watch him on the GRIT channel.

I can smell the smell of a cap gun looking at that picture. I used the phrase we are the guys in the white hats the other day and a few of the youngsters had no idea what I meant. Had to explain it to them. They had no idea and clearly had never watched even a spaghetti western let alone a late 50's early 60's b western. I remember when I got my BB gun for Christmas in 1968. I was 7 and just knew I was going to get one from Santa. When I looked under the tree there were no long boxes that would hold a gun, and I was disappointed to say the least. Well in one small box there was a note for me to look in the gun cabinet and there it was. I'll bet I shot 10,000 BB's through that thing. Good memories.

Remember the Wild Wild West? Wagon Train? Raw Hide? Back then I had a Fanner Fifty that came with a real leather holster. It fired plastic bullets loaded into a spring loaded case with a "stickum" cap on the back. Functioned just like a real Colt. If that set was available now it would probably almost as much as a real Colt.

Well well well.....

There is a lot of toy stuffs here, josh randalls hog leg, wyatts buntline, lucas macains Winchester, the fanner pistol, roy and genes six guns, davy Crockett s old betsy, and his coonskin hat, i remember an air rifle i had that that fired small thimble sized hollow plastic bullets. There was the paladin guns with the knight piece on the holster, one of my favorites was the little derringers that you could buy with the faux ivory handles, I believe they were capguns also, lots and lots of shows and toy guns for all of them, I even had a dick tracy 38.
You remember roys sidekick played by pat brady drove the jeep nellie belle?

I'm really stretching my memory here, but I think Mattel had a derringer that fit on a swiveling flange that was put in a belt buckle. Throw out your stomach and the derringer would swing out and fire. With the size of my stomach I think this thing would go off just putting on my pants.

Blast from the past! I had one of those, too. And the six shooter mentioned few posts ago that fired spring-loaded plastic bullets. Today the latter would come with a page full of safety warnings and, most likely, a Proposition 65 warning for California. Funny- I don't recall anyone getting hit in the eye, or getting cancer. Must be new-fangled dangers.

Ok yur not gonna believe this..........

I remember those and I had the toy, and years ago we were at buffalo bills museum in cody, they had the same style made by a company in the states.
I can't get that up here but I did dig up a similar blank gun that is a flare gun and a bear scare, it fits into a buckle that is usable although a mite heavy, it has a name of little joe, 22 blanks and fun.

Hopalong Cassidy (William Boyd) dressed in black.
I note that "Army 45" is actually a copy of the Colt M1903/M1908-which was issued to general officers. That's what Patton uses to shoot at the Heinkel 111 with. I had a cap pistol copy of the Broomhandle Mauser.

I remember Roy well, for a while there he made my favorite sandwich, The Double R Bar Burger. Hard to find around these parts nowadays.

Great story and picture, thanks for the mammaries.

Yep...."The Double R Bar Burger." Grilled bun hamburger with ham on top and a trip to the "fixins bar" for horsedradish sauce, fresh onions and dill pickle slices ...yeah baby ! .... There are a few still around. My brother in Md. has one near him. The "Double R" is a regular part of his diet !

I remember those too. I live 3 miles from the Maryland line. Where is this Roy Rogers restaurant located, I just might head down there?
