Wasn't the Bearcat originally meant for trappers as a finishing pistol on trapped critters?

I frankly find the tiny grip frame of the (Remington-derived) Bearcat to be not well proportioned for me to be able shoot the gun as well as many other small guns I own. But I wore my little Bowen custom proudly to a Lincoln County wedding!
