Ruger customer service-understaffed or in need of adult supervision?

im wondering now whats in a revolver manual. insert bullet and pull trigger about covers it.

The manual will tell you how to disassemble and reassemble the revolver. See, this really comes in handy when you want to fully strip the gun or you need to replace a part for some reason. Maybe you want to do a trigger job. Can't do it without taking the gun apart.

Try to get any parts for a Security Six today.

Parts for the Security-Six are all over the Internet at reasonable prices.

But there has to be a reason why Ruger refuses to offer any warranty, the only maker of guns on the planet to do business this way.

Ruger states their reason why...read it.

I suppose you've never experienced the joys of dealing with a company that "supposedly" has a lifetime warranty, like Taurus for example. Or arrogant companies like Kimber, who won't stand behind their products (in my experience, with three of their 1911s.) Or companies who only offer a limited warranty (usually one year) and/or don't pay for shipping. Or companies who have lousy service and don't give a hoot about their customers.

Ruger has excellent service, and they are fast, pay for shipping both ways, and are noted for taking care of their customers. There are many companies now, not just gun companies, who only provide an online user manual. The last two cell phones I bought (Samsung and Motorola) both only provided a very basic pamphlet to get started, and I had to download a full user manual. Same for the Braun electric razor my wife bought me, as well as the Hamilton Beach coffee maker we just bought. It's the internet age, and providing an online manual helps companies save money on printed materials. I'd a lot rather them do this, than raise the cost of their guns!

Tnks Alpo, you and me for sure but I'm thinking the third Amigo might have posted-maybe-sorta...

The fantastic reports of stellar Ruger service experiences are quite amazing-member A gets free parts without even asking, member B sends a wreck of a piece in and gets a museum piece back in an hour and a half the usual reports are coming in fast and furious.

WHY CAN'T I GET MY STUPID MANUAL

Yeah I know you sent in your Security Six and got it back with gold engraving and 8 other brand new guns for your troubles.

BUT I CAN'T GET A MANUAL THAT COST RUGER ABOUT ABOUT 47 CENTS

Didn't you say a nice lady is sending you one?

Yes you can...all you have to do is download it. Besides, I thought you said someone at Ruger had agreed to send you one...so, one is on the way. Possess yourself with patience. If you get this stressed out over such a minor matter as this, I sure hope you never encounter a real problem!

I'll add my kudos to the others for Ruger customer service:
I bought a used LCR .327 off gunbroker and after about 250 full house rounds, the cylinder became hard to rotate. Still fired ok, but had about a 20lb. trigger pull. I thought I'd be SOL since I bought it used, but I called Ruger and they immediately sent me a link that allowed me to print a prepaid FedEx overnight label and off it went. Less than a week went by and it was back in like new condition! Now that's customer service!

I had to deal with Ruger Customer service once and it was excellent. Same can be said for S&W.

I can't agree with op, I have always had great results, with ruger cs. Sent back a 12 year old 77, last year and it was fixed and returned within one week, at no charge, picked up a new sp101 match champion two weeks back, single action break was over 6 lbs, gun was supposed to have had trigger improvements on the MC, so a quick phone call and was told to return it to my dealer, and they would replace the gun, and would research who let it get out,
So took back to the dealer, he contacted cs, and told which wholesaler it came from,
Ruger is sending a replacement to the dealer
Be here in a few days

They don't post a warrenty, but take good care of their reputation and product.
As far as the manual a 101 is the same regardless of caliber

Something to think about

Ya maybe I am in a bad mood but I agree with the sender.
Ya, some of the guys here on the forum are good guys but some of those same guys have a paycheck or retirement in the five digit range per year, also, so if they don't get what they paid for, who gives a ***t, right, they will be getting 2,3, maybe 4 of those same guns in the next few years and just sell the used ones off. I on the other hand was held to a standard by the public, "you get what you paid for or your *** was out the door in short order, so again I agree that what you order & pay for, you should get. I am reminded of the person that writes that he really wants a certain gun and when you ask him what he is willing to pay, he low balls you with a 2/3 offer, ya, it is a buyers market but just because the renters are not paying on time, you expect everyone to share your problems, not on your life.

After consultation with knowlegeable experts*, it appears that Ruger has assembled a firing squad to execute the customer service rep who failed to Overnite a new manual to you. Unfortunately when the firing squad assembled it was determined that they were all armed with .223 caliber American Rifles, but had manuals for the 10/22.

Sometimes;...perhaps because I have lost count of exactly just how many tumblers of Scotch I've had; this place can bring out the most hilarious responses to a thread ever uttered / typed by mankind !

((In light of today's social attitude make that "person-kind".))

This thread is one of those times. The Scotch by the way is celebratory, due to picking up a 1968, like new 10-5 nickel snubby just this very day.

Chill pill needed...have you ever called Social Security.

Or the VA. Mom forgot to change her mailing address when she moved to a retirement community and the forwarding order expired in the interim. Ninety minutes later she was transferred to a 30 minute wait for the person who could actually change her address on her 1099R . . .

Purchased a Ruger SP101 9mm about two weeks ago-wrong manual in box.
What manual was in the box? I gots to know.

years ago I purchased a 8 2/8's model 27-2 in the presentation case-brand new. The manual enclosed by Smith showed a picture of a Model 27 but it was with the 3 1/2 " barrell. Never could get a proper one with the 8 2/8 barrel gun shown-and this was before internet and when calling Mass. was LONG DISTANCE

I sold my pair of Ruger Vaqueros because they had blackhawk manuals in the cases.

Nawww just kidding, actually traded them because the grips were too chunky for the wife.

I bought one of the first Ruger Mark IVs and the manual that came with it was for the Mark III. I called and was sent a new manual immediately. I've had super service from Ruger, especially after having to send my gun back for the Safety Recall. It took them 1 day to fix it and to send it back to me.

The last time I sent my S&W back in for service it took 8 weeks.

Both are great companies. Lighten up and enjoy your new pistol.

Who needs a manual to work a revolver?

It's not like it's going to be worth something someday. Nobody is ever going to collect old Rugers.
