Rusty Update **New Update Post 378**

Rusty sent me this:

"I am follicaly challenged. My hair has filed for divorce and run off with another scalp.
The chemo is brutal. I am struggling and losing ground. My body is failing but thankfully my mind isn't.

Stiff upper lip and all that, eh wot?"

Chemo will do a number on your hair. Even my eye lashes were gone a while ago. Most of it does grow back when the chemo is over. Hang in there Rusty.

Lisa's Oncologist told her that it's gonna get worse before it gets better.
Her hair fell out in great clumps and I shaved the rest off for her.
Hopefully the getting better part's gonna be soon.

Chemo is horrible. They basically pump you full of chemicals that kill living tissue, hopefully targeting the cancer cells. My honey went through two rounds. The grandkids shaved her head into a mohawk and died it purple. I have pictures but she would kill me if I posted them!

She is 15 years cancer free Rusty. You can do this!

Rusty, sorry to hear things are rough. I hope they get better soon. As to the hair loss, when my brother, Doug, was going through chemo, he decided to shave his head. So, one day, me and my other brother and Doug's best friend went to the hospital with some clippers and gave him a mohawk. I told him I would have done it, but my bald spot would make it a 2 piece. We were laughing and having a great time. When we left for the night, we realized we had stayed longer than visiting hours. When we tried to apologize to the nursing staff, they thanked us for the laughter. They didn't get to hear a lot of laughter on the cancer floors. And they said that laughter was necessary for good healing.
So, I leave you with this and continue to hope for the best possible outcome. We love ya, buddy!

the prayers continue Rusty... for you, Ruthie, the entire famn damily & the staff helping with the process... having been thru the process twice so far myself, hang in there, I know it's rough.

Thanks, I went through aggressive chemo and radiation 11 years ago and knew what to expect. Thank the Lord for no radiation this go around.

Keep the faith, Rusty. Little sis swsig had major surgery for rare fallopian tube cancer, followed by 18 weeks of chemo. All her hair fell out. She says the worst aspect was the loss of her nasal hair. She lives in dusty Albuquerque, and if she forgot her face mask when she went outside, it hurt. She made it through chemo, all her hair grew back, and she has lived an active lifestyle in the 17 years since, so there is reason to hope. And I trust Hamilton is not too dusty these days.

Might as well show the pants you had on that day too!
