I am looking for an older .22 revolver. i used to shoot my friends Smiths and I remember how good they felt and how accurate they were. I have a Ruger MIII and I like it but hell, I am not going to spend the dollers to get it as accurate as a Smith. I used to shoot the old 41's when I was on the 8th Army team and there is no comparison, obviously. But, those Smith revolvers were damn close in trigger and accuracy out of the box. This will be for me and to teach my my grandsons . I can not remember the models, but I am sure one was the K22. There were others. I would appreciate your input as I am out of the loop in the .22 area. Lordy, I love the Smith big revolvers and 1911's

Model 63 .22/32 Kit Gun Stainless
(with Lobo carved Threepersons)
The first two are on the K frame. The Model 63 is a j frame. Any would do wonderfully. The guns you remember were probably the K22s. The Masterpiece is (usually) six inches, and the Combat Masterpiece four inches in the barrel.
I love the K frames, but I find myself taking the little Model 63 more and more.

You cannot go wrong with a model 17 of all the S&W .22's if you're looking for a straight shooting revolver. The 18 and especially the 34 are easier to carry but the 17 will whip them out on the range when precice shooting is in order. Accuracy is right there with a model 41 IMO and the triggers fantastic.
If you're training your Grandsons I believe you and they will be better served with a 4" model 34 if they have small hands. Much smaller grip and a better training revolver for small handed people as it's a J frame versus the larger K frame 17 and model 18, but the 17 will kick their butts in accuracy.
