I would like to replace the front sight on my 28-2 with a more visible blade. I have the plain black ramp and it just blends right into a black bullseye target. Is this ramp pinned? If so, I sure cannot see any evidence of a pin. Is this front sight replaceable?

While there may be exceptions the front sights on Model 28s are an integral part of the barrel forging! They are not interchangeable/replaceable. A sight insert can be installed, but it isn't a do-it-yourself project for many people.

Sight paint. Cheap and easy. Comes off easily. Doesn't de-value the gun.

Sight paint it is... which starts yet another rant... have you seen how little model paint is in stores these days? Kids must not be building models like when I was a kid... 65 years ago! :)

That's because they have video games. We might have been the same way had video games existed when we were kids. Find a hobby store like Hobby Lobby. Some craft places like Finger Hut carry model paint too. Speaking of fingers, fingernail polish also can be used. Might be hard to find in hunter orange though. ;)

I think I bought a small bottle from Midway, but any of the big box stores should have it. One small bottle will last a long time.

This is why a lot of bullseye shooters sight their guns in for a 6 o-clock hold.

If its a dedicated paper puncher its not a big deal.

I use a 6 O'clock hold at the range and sight my pistols in to hit point of aim right at the top of my front sight. People keep telling me that my guns are not sighted in, but when desired they shoot right where I want them to.
