Good morning and hope all had a wonderful Christmas, I did.
I have a question about a 30-1 2" Nickel revolver I was looking
at one Christmas Eve. It's a nice gun, but what I noticed was the
hammer and trigger didn't appear to be case colored but a
flat blackish in color. The gun looks original but seems odd
to me about the hammer and trigger. All input is appreciated.

He wants $500.00 for just the gun.

Use of MIM hammers and triggers began in late 90's. All the older Smiths I have ever owned had case hardened ones. I am sure one of the old school experts on this forum has a proper answer for you.

I've seen some case colored parts age to a dull black-ish tone, perhaps that's what you are seeing, in which case it would be totally righteous. It's the ones with bright blue or nickeled hammers and triggers that scream out "REFINISHED!"
