Date of manufacture please. The serial no. is 648XX

This is one of those models listed as a broad range in the guide. Hard to pin down exact year. Maybe somebody has one lettered near your serial to give you a clue but the book is nebulous on this model.

More specifically, you have a .38 Terrier Post War, "Improved" I frame, the 2nd style, with coil mainspring.

It retains the 1/2 round front sight, and is therefore an early version of the Improved I frame, following the "Transitional " or 1st style reintroduced after WW II. It was produced in Feb. 1952.
