Got real lucky about three weeks ago and found a 625 three inch in .45 acp. What a shooter and tack driver. Also got luckier and found a set of Spegel N-Frame boot grips on another forurm.

Will get a few pictures in day or two.

Anyway, the question, 2 1/5 inch or 3 inch? I prefer the 3 over the 2 1/2 in most compact revolvers. Anyone else. I seem to get better burn from the loads and a bit less muzzle flip due to the addition of the 1/2 inch of steel on the barrel.

I have the same revolver. The 3" full lug barrel is definitely an odd configuration. I actually get more barrel flip with the shorter 3" full lug barrel than I do with my 4" full lug and Mountain Gun 625s. I have boot grip type grips on mine too and that might be the reason why. And strangely enough mine also feels heavier on the hip than either of the other two. I actually thought about having that short full lug removed, but it would probably be too much trouble and expense. Mine is also extremely accurate and consistent with all bullet weights and types and it has the smoothest trigger out of the box of all my S&W revolvers. Mine is my primary carry gun at the moment.

As far as the 2 1/2" barrel goes, I believe the only thing comparable in .45 ACP revolvers is the Jovino version. I'm sure they'd feel lighter but I don't know if they'd balance better.

I also have a 4 inch full lug and mountain gun. On the 3 inch I have used the Spegel extended and the boot. I really do not notice that much difference in the flip with grip. But there has been only a few rounds fired doing that. That would require a bit more shooting. :D

Just enjoy the testing.

I just bought a NIB 625 4inch, (these have been discontinued) they have replaced this with the JM model (Jerry Meculik) with the silly grips.

I found a wholesaler that had 45 of these as NEW / OLD stock they were clearing them out so i picked one up to go with my 610 4inch 10mm / .40S&W ...

These are very, very, very nice shooters - great find :D

I have them - or can have them ... send me an email not a PM an email
