Hello,

In 1992 I was at a gun show with a female friend. She found a new S&W 6906 pistol for sale and fell in love with it. I got it for her that day. We went to the range and I got her a one year menbership and a box of 9mm bullets. She shot the pistol about 20-30 times put it all back in the box and we left. I took the pistol home and cleaned it for her then returned it the next day. Last week she came over to my house and gave me back the pistol. She has never taken it out of the OEM plastic box it came in. I opened it up and it even has the sales slip inside.

My question is

A. Would you use this as a carry pistol
or
b. Put it back in the box and save it.

What would you do?

Thank you for any help

Hi:
An Agency I worked for in the 1990s issued the S&W Model 6906 as a service weapon. I also carried it "Off Duty" I liked the weapon for "On and Off Duty. I would carry it if I had one.

Well, you're never gonna get rich just stashing this 6906 away waiting for it's value to increase tremendously.. Just not gonna happen..

That's the bad news.

The good news is the the 6906 is a fine 9mm pistol. I'm a bit of a 3rd gen S&W pistol nut (I have a 3913/3913LS/5906/6906/CS9/CS45 and I love ALL of 'em).. I bought my 6906 NIB from CDNN last year for $399.99 and considered it a bargain.

My recommendation to you would be to get yourself a few 5906 15rd mags, the same number of S&W +2 mag adapters, load that sucker up with quality jhp's and it's a great carry weapon.

I actually prefer the "feel" of the 6906 w/the adapter over the factory 12rd mag, and hey, it's 3 free extra rounds...

Just personal opinion, others might disagree.

Best Wishes,

Jesse
P.S. Here's a photo of the 6906 w/standard 12rd mag (fingertip), and the 5906 15rd mag w/S&W adapter.

I carried a 6904 for years until I recently came accross a 6906.

The 6906 goes EVERYWHERE with me.

God Bless!!!

I picked up a 6906 earlier this month and am very happy with it. Does yours have the square trigger guide?

I have carried my 6906 for nearly 15 years now.

Some must have add ons if you don't already have is a set of Hogue grips and Trijicon night sights.

I carry in a Safariland high rise paddle holster.

I am a bit of a Smith nut myself..4513TSW, 4516-1 and a 4566TSW.

Hope this helps.

Hi:
When I was "slim and trim" Jimmy I used a IWB holster for "Off Duty".
After My chest re-located" to my waist-line I used a"Shadow-Type" OWB holster.
I currently use a "Fobus"paddle holster.
Sorry I took so long replying but I had a un-scheduled trip to the E.R.

\ hijack / Everything ok, jimmyj?

\back on thread/ I've got a 5903 and 915, wanted a set of 06's (59 and 69) but summit sold out before I had the money.

Hi, EvelMe:
I spend 18 hours in the E.R. and was sent home to recouperate. I normally read the Obituaries in the morning paper in bed after I check and make sure I not in a body bag or casket. If I am not listed in the daily Obituaries I than get out of bed. If I am why bother getting up?
The Smiths you have are great. Many years ago I was the "Victim" of a "Police Ambush". I was armed with a six inch barrel Colt Python. Afterwards I decided that I needed more "FirePower". I purchased a Model 5904 for a service pistol and a Model 6904 for a "Off Duty".
