S&W 940

They sure are. $1000 apiece.

I just ran a gun genie quote looks like 869.99 shipped to my FFL is the best price

Not bad when it includes night sights and VZ grips, and the sights are replaceable.

Well, that's a savings…

I wonder if the cylinder has the same dimensions as the originals, so folks with extraction issues could have the factory replace them if needed. I've honed my no dash to address the issue but haven't tried it out yet. My -1 is waiting for its first trip to the range so not sure if it needs attention too.

A dealer that I frequent called me to ask me if I had an interest in a 940 2inch barrel 9 mm. The asking price was $750. I am unfamiliar with this model and the price range that it should be traded at. Appreciate any help you can give me Lou.
Sir, if you will kindly forward the phone number of that dealer to me I'd appreciate it.

I doubt it's still there...

I was just thinking about having TK Custom convert my 640 cylinder. Maybe I'll wait and see if this new one is good.

OTOH, TK says you can still shoot .38 and .357 in their 9mm cylinders, standard pressure only.

$350 to convert, or $870 for a dedicated 9mm.

Something that bothers me slightly is that I'm pretty sure I saw on video that cylinder of the new 940 was recessed at the rear, but cylinders of the old 940s were flat-faced. Now I'm concerned that moon clips may not be compatible between generations.

S&W 9mm moon clips for the original 940 will not work with TK Custom's conversions, but their proprietary clips will work with both. My guess is that the new S&W clips will go either way, based on the apparent recess the new 940s have. We'll have to see.

I'm curious to know if this new model will have a barrel specific to 9mm and measuring .355, or if they are going to share the .357 bore?

The SAAMI standards for 38 Special, 357 Magnum, and 9mm Luger all are for a 0.355 inch (9.02mm) bore diameter.
Thanks, I didn't know that.
Previous experience with a Performance Center revolver in .38 super displayed terrible accuracy. I blamed it on the "oversized bore". Whatever the reason, I dumped the gun.
I've got the new 940 headed my way. I'll be the guinea pig.

Took my 940-3 to the range. Only had time for a few rounds downrange. Had mixed results.
Pros:
Good accuracy-great sights
VZ grips-solid connection
Smooth action
Cons:
Some light strikes with factory ammo
Very sticky extraction with my reloads

Should mention that factory ammo extracted with no issues…
