S&W - Are You Listening?

I'm betting a lot of the revolver enthusiasts, here on this site and elsewhere, would be turned off by the ILS (and price) and still wouldn't buy -- no matter what length of barrel a gun had.

A LGS has had a new, classis 36 on sales for over a year. Very nice classic snub.

No takers. It has the ILS, but also is marked at $795. I considered it, but bought a 36 no dash for less the $500.

es, the ILS is a deal breaker for me.

64-3

I had one listed back on 11-03-14. Mostly looking for a nice Mdl.10 or 15 in S&W bright blue. Had an offer and he went on another forum and asked for info. Got all kinds of " help" .Had to give up and the thresd was shut down.

If they were listening, they wouldn't have uglied up the frames with the lock hole and transfer bar system.

Ruger= Transfer bar

S&W= Hammer block

Totally different.

As a fanatical lover of the .41 mag cartridge and of M57/M58 series in particular, I'd say that would be a dream gun for me: round butt, 3", M57. Am even considering "Frankensteining" one of my 8-3/8" M57s to have one, but not sure how to make the square butt into a round butt...

You are not the only one out there with same love affair. My idea would save the 8-3/8'' and buy a new 4'' M58 and send in to to worked on.I would hate to tell you but there still some 3'' M57 out here where I hang out.

If you want a 3" K frame make the decision to find/buy one and do it!
In the grand scheme of things they are not unicorns... They are available pre-lock, pre MIM, pre-blasted, ect. Just gotta look and be ready to pounce.

I found my 3" Ashland run (AHL prefix) Model 66-2 for sale right here in the forum classifieds.

I knew I wanted one, I knew it was going to be expensive, but I got what I wanted and couldn't be happier that I didn't wait any longer.

Do I wish I found mine at a "show" for $500, of course!! Cause if I did,now I'd have two!! Nice job BTW `

P.S. my first love is Blued/Wood but a 19 3" is WAAAAAY above my pay grade:)

We want some 3" K Frame revolvers. Look at the prices the used out of production ones command. You will sell every one you make!

You are currently producing 4" versions of the models 10, 64, 66, 67, and 69. Just do a run with 3" barrels. We are not asking you to reinvent the wheel here. Pretty simple stuff. The payoff will be some very happy customers.

I know you guys are very busy making plastic autoloaders and the latest tacticool rifles. It is very rare you introduce any new wheelguns these days. But please don't forget about us. ANd feel free to throw in some 3" L Frames as well. Thanks!

Not much of a revolver fan, but why is a 3" revolver so desirable. I see 1.875"....2.125"...2.0"...4.0"...and a 6.0"...lol I would think that should give anyone a pretty good choice. Please make this a day I can actually say..."I learned something today"!

Interesting you mention the Night Guard Line. In my opinion that was the last big revolver push/innovation S&W made. They went all out with the NG line...K,L, and N frame versions in 38, 357, 44sp, 44mag, 41mag, 10mm, and 45acp. They were expensive and did not catch on. Amazing guns in my opinion. I love my 386NG and carry it often.

Unfortunately, I think the Night Guard series was the last big push/innovation we will see for revolvers from S&W.

The paper thin forcing cone was why I sold off my 44spec Night Guard. I was concerned with the long term durability.

It was a nice shooter though.

I should have bought the 315 instead.:(

Because when you push the ejector rod the cases are fully ejected from the cylinder. With no extra barrel sticking off the front.

You do enough revolver shooting and you learn what works. While I've shot deer with my 3 inch S&W M696 44 special, I think that 5 inch is the perfect all around white tail gun. Easy to holster and carry around the woods all day, long enough to shoot good. Of course 5 inch is also a rare length.

When it comes to concealed carry, many agree that 3 inch is the perfect packing revolver. Long enough to shoot accurately at any defensive distance, yet easy on the belt.

This feeling just comes from shooting allot of different DA revolvers. That's about the best I can do to explain it :)

Actually pretty good explanation that did teach me something. Only revolvers I have ever shot was a 38 snub nose and a 6" western style .22 Heritage. I guess I can relate it to me shooting my .22 semi with the 3" then putting the 5" on it and being much more accurate. Thanks for the reply....also thanks to the others that replied to my questions.

3" real blue ( I detest stainless!) and none of those idiotic fiber optic front sights either.
