S@W BODYGUARD OR RUGER LCP

Another vote for the LCP. Reliable and accurate with an OK trigger. The LCP isn't ugly either. ;)

Which did S&W forget how to do first, build nice looking handguns or make good triggers? Regards 18DAI.

Had the LCP and found the BG.380 to have a more manageable recoil, I can rack/lock the slide back on the BG, but not the LCP. Sights on the BG .. all kinds of little things that added up to ditching the LCP for the BG.380.

I could care less about the laser on the BG.380. It is a point & shoot BUG, mainly designed for fast draw CQ shooting. In that situation, the laser is useless.

I'll be 'that guy' and say the Taurus TCP, better than both mentioned in the title in trigger and point shooting ability for me, plus the slide locks back on the last round unlike the LCP, nice feature.

Test fired the LCP to day about 50 rounds with my left hand un-supported average group 1 1/2 to 2" at 21 ft.
The gun ran excellent with 3 different types of ammo Federal,PMC and Fiocchi FMJ @ HP point of aim dead center group was about 1" hight and about 2" to the right I find my left hand does cant to sight a little to the right
Man: the gun sure is a keeper Waite until my right hand comes around

I owned the LCP and have shot both, you'd be fine w/either one. I only sold the Ruger b/c I have more comfort carrying a J frame (old dog, new tricks). I chose the Ruger b/c I did not want to pay for a laser I'd never use, but again both are fine for their intended purpose.

My wife has an LCP w/ Crimson Trace laser. She was not to comfortable with the amount of recoil. Also, when she would fire it, it would rub on her finger and would almost cause a blister. She did not like that at all. Maybe it was something she was doing wrong. Went and bought a 9mm Shield. Very comfortable with it. Has good sights and not as much recoil. This now is her EDC gun. The LCP is now for fun when we get it out.

Had an LCP on raincheck at $289, but when it came in I ended up buying the Bodyguard instead. Bought it because the LCP and a laser would have been more costly. Shot the first 100 rounds through it yesterdaywithout a single issue. Pattern was very tight for the first time. Even better than my Walther PPS. I am quite impressed with the out of box performance. I also shot my buddy's Bodyguard with about 500 rounds through it. The trigger was much smoother and easier to pull. Same pattern results.

The Bodyguard gets my vote.

I just ran another 50 rounds threw the 380 LCP not a Hi-cup just did what it was made to do pull the trigger and brass just keeps on flying:I did finally settle on a number #1 unckle mikes pocket holster Man stays put no pocket print and the gun clears the pocket holster fast as lightning

i own both and IMO the BG380 is far superior in every way
Slide lock,better grips,better balence,gun has sights,free lazer,
mine never jams.....my LCP does jam,has no sights and makes me bleed everytime I shoot it......no slide lock either and no lazer

I love my lcp w/crimson trace on it.
My question with the Bodyguard is how long will they continue to make it with the current laser before something changes and the parts won't be available for that laser anymore. Plus if the laser breaks you are out a gun until it gets repaired, or live with it without the laser. That's the only downside I see with the Bodyguard.

I have not had both but I have a BG380 and I used to own the LC9. I did not care for the LC9 trigger was horrible but was meant to be that way, I do not like the loaded round indicator, although a lot of people do like it. I don't like the plastic guide rod and did not like the feel in my hand. It also has a magazine safety which I did not like. If you think S&W 380 had recalls, look up the LCP on Google for problems especially on the Ruger sights.
The BG380 is a perfect pocket gun in my opinion. It is very comfortable in the hand, SS guide rod comes stock on it. No magazine safety, I like the laser on the BG, The BG comes straight out of the box perfect, no complaints No problems, flawless.
Get the BG380
By the way the BG380 will never be sold. The Ruger just could not force myself to like it and I have always been a big Ruger fan. I love thier P90's and Mark series of pistols.

Love my P238 with night sights. Accurate and little recoil. I have not shot the BG380. Didn't have an interest in the laser since I used to own a BG38 and didn't like the on off button, plus I wasn't very accurate with it, compared to my 642.

Now for pocket, I go with the P238, and for pocket or ankle the 642.

is there a serial# range to stay away from on the bodyguards?

I'm interested in an answer to this as well. My brand new BG380 is coming tomorrow but it would be nice to know at what point everything was fixed.

I have the P238 and my dad has the BG380. I have not tried the LCP. I know several people with the LCP and the like it. I did not like the trigger pull on dads BG. Way too long. The Sig has a smooth trigger. Mine came with night sights and a laser. I just purchased a 40 shield for carry and my sister is trying out my Sig.
