Hi everyone,

I just purchased a very nice Model 18, that dates to 1959. I would like to find an original box that dates to that period. Can anybody direct me as to which style box I should be looking for, as there seems to be a few different styles/colors for this model.

Thanks for your help and suggestions in advance.

Blue boxes began in about K250,000, so thats what you need and it should say m18 if your gun in model marked. Best to try to match SN on bottom of box with your gun as close as possible

Thanks Greystonedog,

Yes, the yoke is marked Mod 18 and the serial number K386XXX, puts it at a 1959 manufacturing date.

Doc

If you go to the FS forum and look at member 410 bores list towards the bottom he has a Combat Masterpiece box for $40 in the K300,000 range which is pretty close.
Box says 4" Combat Masterpiece, so I suppose it would be period correct for the .22lr .32 or .38 special .

Welcome to the forum!! We got lots of great info and a lot of BS too!!

The user name is 410bore, here is the link to the box Engine49 guy was referring to.

Thanks Peyton,

That box is designed for a .38. I'll keep searching and hopefully someday, a Model 18 box will come up for sale.

I'll also post a picture of this Model 18, later this week.

Thanks,
Doc

I was thinking that would be the type of box needed but didnt want to post anything to make it seem like I was "plugging" my own product :D.....

Pictures as promised

The weather was cooperative today so I brought my newly purchased Model 18 outside to take a couple pictures for all of you. For a 1959 Combat Masterpiece, it looks well cared for!
