I arrived in Vegas last night. At 10AM this morning I was in the S&W booth looking for the new toys.

I found Jerry going over the high points of the new Night Guard revolver series with a young blonde

The Night Guard revolvers are all scandium framed with stainless steel cylinders that have been coated in IonBond. The barrels are 2 1/2". The rear sight is the Extreme Duty fixed sight and the front blades are all Tritium big dots. A versions of the Night Guard are wearing Pachmayr compac grips.

I found the first to be kind of exiting, it is a Model 315. Yes our old 38 Special favorite is back.

Then there is the 44 Special Model 396.

Of course there is a 45ACP Model 325

There is even an 8 shot 357 Magnum Model 327. Being a production gun, this does not come from the factory set up for moon clips.

The last variation of the Night Guard is the Model 329

Thank you very much for posting these pics. I love the shot of the S&W "booth" - very impressive.

Did you happen to see any other new revolver offerings or are the Night Guards getting the only real promotional push?

I still have more images to downsize from my camera. Each model/series will be a fresh thread so as not to overburden folks with things that do not interest them.

I forgot to mention weights and MSRP in my initial post.

315 is actually not listed in the 2008 catalog
325...28.0 ounces...$1,044
327...27.5 ounces...$1,044
329...29.3 ounces...$1,044
386...24.5 ounces...$980
396...24.2 ounces...$980

Remember, nobody buys firearms for MSRP

What the heck are those three yellow dots on the left side of the frame?

I noticed those also on the cover picture of the TR.45 on this month's HandGunner.

Those are the pins that the hammer, trigger and bolt ride on. They are in all Smith & Wesson firearms, but the different materials make them obvious on the black scandium frames.

Those are really nice, but beyond my budget unless the retail price is lower.......still really good looking revolvers

A 3" Scandium 44 Magnum! I already have the 329PD with the 4" barrel and have been dreaming of a shorter barrel. And here it comes.

My 29 and 629 have 3" barrels. The balance on these 3" N-frames is superb. You just point your fist and the gun stays in sync.

For USPSA/IPSC Revolver Division. Yes, I know, I should get some moonclipped 45 ACP 625s for this, but I just love these 44 Magnums.

Thanks for the update, 2 or 3 of the best looking carry guns that you have shown are now on my A-list. Thanks again.

thanks for the great report and photos; hope to see more!

(I just don't go for the styling however; it looks like something Kel-tec would make)

I like the looks of them as well! That 44 spl should be nice.

Hey Chop! Hope all is well for you.

Chris

Based on my limited experience with photography, they will look better in person, flat black is hard to photograph.

thanks for the upates
